Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Production Manager
Document your supervisory experience precisely
H-2B visa employers filing for a Production Manager role must justify the temporary need to DOL. Your resume should quantify team sizes managed, production outputs supervised, and seasonal cycles you've overseen to match what the employer describes in their temporary labor certification.
Target employers with recurring H-2B certifications
Search Migrate Mate to identify employers who have filed H-2B labor certifications for production or operations roles. Repeat filers already understand the DOL process, which shortens your path from offer to approved petition and reduces the risk of employer dropout mid-filing.
Verify your role qualifies under H-2B occupation codes
Production Manager falls under Standard Occupational Classification codes that DOL uses to determine prevailing wage. Check O*NET to confirm your specific duties align with the listed occupation before accepting an offer, since a mismatch can trigger a DOL denial during labor certification.
Time your job search around the cap filing windows
The 66,000 H-2B visas split evenly between October 1 and April 1 start dates. Employers can file with DOL no earlier than 75 days before your start date, so production roles beginning in spring need employer action by January. Starting your search six months out gives you leverage.
Confirm your employer will file before the petition cap fills
USCIS typically receives enough I-129 petitions to exhaust the H-2B cap within days of the filing window opening. Ask any prospective employer whether they have legal counsel engaged and a certified labor certification ready before that window opens, not after you've accepted an offer.
Use the OFLC Wage Search to negotiate informed
DOL requires H-2B employers to pay at least the prevailing wage for your occupation and work location. Pull the OFLC Wage Search for your SOC code and target state before your offer conversation so you know the floor, and can flag any offer that falls below it before the petition is filed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Production Manager jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface jobs where employers are actively sponsoring H-2B visas, so you're not sorting through listings that don't apply to your status. Filter by job title and industry to find Production Manager roles in seasonal sectors like seafood processing, food manufacturing, and construction, where H-2B filings for this occupation are most common.
Does the H-2B annual cap affect when I can start a Production Manager role?
Yes. USCIS allocates 33,000 H-2B visas for positions starting in the first half of the fiscal year and 33,000 for the second half. Cap numbers can be exhausted within days of the filing window opening. If your employer misses the initial filing rush, supplemental visa allocations are sometimes available but not guaranteed, so your start date may shift significantly.
What does DOL require from an employer sponsoring an H-2B Production Manager?
The employer must file a temporary labor certification with DOL demonstrating a one-time, seasonal, peak-load, or intermittent need for the position. For a Production Manager role, they'll need to document that the need is genuinely temporary, typically 10 months or less, and that no qualified U.S. workers are available. DOL must certify the application before USCIS can process the I-129 petition.
Can an H-2B Production Manager change employers during a seasonal contract?
H-2B status is employer-specific and tied to the approved petition for a particular employer and worksite. If you want to work for a different employer, that new employer must file a separate I-129 petition and obtain their own DOL temporary labor certification on your behalf. Switching employers without an approved petition in place means you'd be working without valid status, which creates serious immigration consequences.
