Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Logistics Specialist
Verify your logistics credentials match DOL requirements
H-2B visa logistics roles often require documented experience in freight coordination, warehouse management, or inventory control. Gather employer letters, training certificates, and employment records before approaching sponsors, since DOL's temporary labor certification demands proof of your occupational history.
Use O*NET to frame your qualifications precisely
Look up the Logistics Specialist occupation profile on O*NET to see exactly how DOL classifies the role's tasks and skills. Employers reference this data when drafting their job descriptions, so aligning your resume language to it strengthens your petition.
Target employers with seasonal shipping or distribution surges
H-2B sponsorship requires employers to demonstrate a temporary, seasonal need. Logistics Specialist roles at ski resorts, holiday fulfillment centers, seafood processors, and summer tourism operations are the most defensible petitions because the seasonal pattern is built into the business.
Search Migrate Mate to find H-2B logistics employers
Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa sponsorship type, so you can identify Logistics Specialist openings where employers have already committed to H-2B filing, rather than cold-contacting companies and hoping they'll sponsor.
Confirm the employer files in the correct cap half
The 66,000 H-2B visas split into two halves: 33,000 for workers starting October 1 through March 31, and 33,000 for April 1 through September 30. A logistics role beginning in November uses the winter half, so your employer must file with USCIS before that allocation runs out.
Check prevailing wage before accepting any offer
Your employer is legally required to pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for a Logistics Specialist in your work location. Run your own lookup through the OFLC Wage Search before signing anything, so you can flag discrepancies before the I-129 petition is filed.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Logistics Specialist jobs offering H-2B sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search, since it filters listings specifically for employers prepared to file H-2B petitions. General job boards rarely flag sponsorship type, so you can spend weeks contacting employers who don't sponsor. Migrate Mate surfaces only positions where H-2B filing is part of the employer's hiring plan, saving you that screening time.
How does the H-2B annual cap affect when I can start a Logistics Specialist role?
USCIS issues no more than 66,000 H-2B visas each fiscal year, split into two 33,000-visa halves by start date. If you're targeting a summer logistics role, your employer must file before the April-through-September allocation is exhausted, which can happen within days of USCIS opening the filing window. Missing that window means waiting until the next cap period, so your employer needs to move early.
What documentation does a Logistics Specialist typically need for H-2B sponsorship?
You'll need proof of relevant work experience in areas like freight coordination, inventory management, or distribution operations, since DOL's temporary labor certification requires the employer to justify hiring a foreign worker for the specific role. Gather employment verification letters, any logistics or supply chain training certificates, and passport documentation well before your employer begins the DOL filing process.
Can a Logistics Specialist role qualify as a temporary seasonal position under H-2B rules?
Yes, but only if the employer can demonstrate the need is tied to a predictable seasonal event, a peak-load period, or a one-time occurrence rather than a permanent operational need. Distribution centers serving holiday retail surges, seafood processing facilities with harvest-driven demand, or resort supply chains with defined tourist seasons are strong examples of qualifying temporary logistics needs under DOL guidelines.
