H-2B Visa Crew Leader Jobs
Crew Leader jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship place you in charge of seasonal crews in landscaping, forestry, and groundskeeping operations across the U.S. Employers file a temporary labor certification with the DOL before petitioning USCIS, and the 66,000-visa annual cap means timing your application to the correct winter or summer allocation matters.

Document your supervisory experience concretely
Crew Leader petitions succeed when you can show the DOL and USCIS that you've directed workers, assigned tasks, and enforced safety protocols. List team sizes, seasons worked, and specific crew management duties on every resume and reference letter.
Target employers registered in E-Verify
H-2B visa sponsors must use E-Verify to confirm work authorization for all new hires. Filtering your search to E-Verify-registered landscaping or forestry companies confirms they've cleared a key compliance step and have prior experience navigating the sponsorship process.
Search verified H-2B employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Crew Leader roles filtered by H-2B sponsorship history. Seeing which employers have filed DOL labor certifications for supervisory seasonal positions tells you who's genuinely set up to sponsor, not just willing in theory.
Apply before the cap splits in October
The 66,000 annual H-2B cap divides into 33,000 for each fiscal half. Employers hiring for summer seasons must file early to land in the first-half allocation. If the cap fills before your petition clears, your start date shifts to the next period.
Request a prevailing wage review with the OFLC Wage Search
Crew Leader roles fall under a specific Standard Occupational Classification code, and DOL sets wage floors by county and experience level. Cross-check your offered wage against the OFLC Wage Search before signing any offer to confirm the employer is filing a compliant LCA.
Review the O*NET profile before your employer files
Your employer's DOL petition must describe duties matching a recognized occupation. Pull the O*NET profile for First-Line Supervisors of Landscaping, Lawn Service, and Groundskeeping Workers to verify that your actual day-to-day responsibilities align with what gets submitted.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Crew Leader jobs that offer H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Crew Leader positions where employers have a documented history of H-2B sponsorship. Because the H-2B process requires employers to obtain DOL labor certification before petitioning USCIS, filtering for companies that have already completed this process significantly improves your chances of securing a role that moves forward to a visa filing.
How does the H-2B annual cap affect Crew Leader applicants?
USCIS issues no more than 66,000 H-2B visas per fiscal year, split evenly between the October-to-March and April-to-September halves. Landscaping and groundskeeping employers hiring Crew Leaders for summer seasons compete for the first-half allocation, which can fill quickly. Employers who miss the cutoff must wait for the next period or apply for any supplemental cap allocation Congress authorizes.
Does a Crew Leader role qualify as a specialty occupation under H-2B?
H-2B covers temporary non-agricultural work and does not require a specialty occupation or degree, unlike the H-1B visa. Crew Leader positions qualify when the employer demonstrates a genuine temporary or seasonal need, documents the Standard Occupational Classification code with DOL, and shows that qualified U.S. workers aren't available for the position during that period.
Can I stay in the U.S. between seasons on an H-2B visa as a Crew Leader?
H-2B status is tied to the specific employer, season, and dates listed in your approved petition. When your authorized work period ends, your status expires and you must depart. If the same employer files a new petition for the following season, you can return, but there's no automatic bridge status that lets you remain in the U.S. between approved periods.
