Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Maintenance Supervisor Jobs
Pull your O*NET occupation profile early
The O*NET profile for Maintenance Supervisors documents the skills, tasks, and knowledge requirements your employer will need to match when writing the job description for DOL certification. A mismatched description is one of the most common reasons H-2B visa petitions stall.
Target employers who file before January
The summer cap half opens April 1 and routinely fills within days. Employers filing for Maintenance Supervisors at resorts or construction sites need to start the DOL temporary labor certification process at least 75 days before your start date.
Search verified H-2B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters employers by H-2B filing history so you can identify which resorts, facilities, and contractors have actually sponsored Maintenance Supervisor roles before, not just those who say they're open to it.
Verify your supervisory experience is documented
DOL requires employers to advertise the position at the prevailing wage using the OFLC Wage Search before petitioning USCIS. Your records showing direct reports managed and scope of maintenance work supervised will support the employer's case during the recruitment attestation stage.
Confirm the employer is E-Verify enrolled
H-2B employers must enroll in E-Verify to lawfully employ you once you arrive. Ask any prospective sponsor to confirm enrollment before you accept an offer, since unenrolled employers can't legally hire H-2B workers even after USCIS approves the petition.
Negotiate your start date around cap windows
The 66,000 annual H-2B cap splits into two halves: 33,000 for October through March employment and 33,000 for April through September. Maintenance Supervisor roles starting at shoulder-season transitions can fall into an oversubscribed cap half, so align your offer start date deliberately.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Maintenance Supervisor jobs that offer H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended tool for this search. It surfaces employers with verified H-2B filing history so you're targeting companies that have actually sponsored temporary non-agricultural workers before, not just those that list the visa as a possibility. Filter by job title and industry to narrow results to maintenance-focused seasonal employers like resorts, property management contractors, and recreational facilities.
How does the H-2B annual cap affect my chances as a Maintenance Supervisor candidate?
The H-2B cap is set at 66,000 visas per fiscal year, divided into two halves of 33,000 each. The summer half regularly fills within the first few days of the filing window. Maintenance Supervisor roles at summer resorts and construction sites compete in that window, so employers who miss the opening dates often can't sponsor workers until the following season without a supplemental cap allocation from Congress or DHS.
Does my maintenance supervisory experience substitute for a formal credential in the H-2B process?
H-2B is classified as a temporary non-agricultural worker program and does not require a U.S. degree. DOL labor certification requires employers to document that the position's minimum requirements match what's typical for the occupation. For Maintenance Supervisor roles, demonstrated supervisory experience and trade certifications, such as HVAC, electrical, or plumbing licenses, are typically what employers attest to in their job description filings.
What happens to my H-2B status if my seasonal maintenance job ends early?
Your H-2B status is tied to the specific employer and job approved in the petition. If the seasonal position ends before your authorized period expires, you're expected to depart the U.S. or transfer to a new H-2B employer who files a separate petition on your behalf. USCIS does not provide a formal grace period for H-2B workers comparable to those available under other nonimmigrant categories.
