H-2B Visa Events Jobs
Events jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship cover seasonal roles in concert production, festival operations, corporate event staffing, and venue support. Employers must file a temporary labor certification with the DOL before petitioning USCIS, and the 66,000-visa annual cap fills fast, making early application timing critical for workers and employers alike.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Events Jobs
Document your technical event credentials early
Stage rigging certifications, audio-visual operator licenses, and event safety training cards all strengthen your H-2B visa petition. Gather originals and certified translations before your employer begins the DOL labor certification process, since delays in documentation can push filings past the cap window.
Target employers with recurring seasonal permits
Festival promoters, convention centers, and touring production companies that hire H-2B workers every season already understand the filing timeline. Approaching them in the off-season, before they submit their temporary labor certification to DOL, gives you a real shot at being included in that year's petition.
Search verified H-2B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Events employers by DOL Labor Condition Application filing history, so you're only pursuing companies with a demonstrated record of H-2B sponsorship rather than cold-contacting venues that have never filed.
Understand the cap split and its filing deadlines
The 66,000 annual H-2B cap divides evenly between October-to-March and April-to-September start dates. Summer festival and outdoor events roles fall under the April-to-September allocation, which historically exhausts first. Confirm your anticipated start date with the employer so filings land in the correct cap half.
Verify your job title maps to an approved H-2B occupation
USCIS cross-references your role against O*NET occupational codes when reviewing H-2B petitions. Event Coordinator, Rigger, and Audio-Visual Technician each carry distinct codes. Ask your employer to confirm the exact O*NET code they'll use so your experience description matches precisely.
Confirm your employer will cover mandatory DOL wage requirements
H-2B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage for your occupation and location, as set by the OFLC Wage Search. Negotiate your offer letter only after confirming that wage floor, because underpaying relative to the certified rate is a compliance violation that can void the petition.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Events jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Events employers with verified H-2B filing history, so you're not guessing which venues or production companies have actually sponsored workers before. Filter by role type and season to surface companies that already know the DOL certification and USCIS petition process, which speeds up your job search considerably.
How does the H-2B visa cap affect seasonal Events workers?
USCIS allocates 66,000 H-2B visas per fiscal year, split into two 33,000-visa halves by season. Summer festival and outdoor events roles typically compete for the April-to-September allocation, which fills quickly. Your employer must file the temporary labor certification with DOL well before the USCIS petition window opens, often three to four months ahead of your intended start date.
What events industry roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
Roles that qualify are temporary, non-agricultural, and tied to a peak seasonal need. Stage riggers, audio-visual technicians, event setup crew, lighting operators, and festival security staff commonly appear in approved H-2B petitions. The employer must demonstrate the position is genuinely temporary and that not enough U.S. workers are available for that season.
Can I stay in the U.S. between events contracts on an H-2B visa?
Your H-2B status is tied to the specific employer and period of need listed on the approved petition. If one contract ends before another begins, you're generally expected to depart unless a new employer files a separate H-2B petition on your behalf. USCIS allows a brief grace period after your authorized stay ends, but it's not intended as a gap-filling buffer between unrelated gigs.
