H-2B Visa Sports Jobs
Sports jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship cover seasonal roles at ski resorts, stadiums, golf courses, and recreational facilities across the U.S. Employers must obtain DOL labor certification before sponsoring you, and the 66,000-visa annual cap means timing your application to the correct half-year period is critical.

Confirm your O*NET job classification first
Look up your specific sports role on O*NET to confirm its standard occupational classification code. Employers need this code on the DOL labor certification, and a misclassified role can delay or invalidate your petition before it reaches USCIS.
Target resorts with recurring seasonal programs
Ski resorts, golf clubs, and stadiums that run H-2B visa programs year after year already have legal counsel and DOL relationships in place. Returning program employers file earlier, move faster, and face fewer complications than employers sponsoring H-2B workers for the first time.
Search verified H-2B employers on Migrate Mate
Filter by sports-related roles and confirmed H-2B filing history on Migrate Mate. This surfaces employers who have already completed labor certification for seasonal sports positions, so you're not spending time on employers who have never navigated the process.
Apply before the cap filing window opens
USCIS splits the 66,000 H-2B cap between October and April start dates. Employers can file as early as 90 days before your employment start date, and cap numbers fill quickly. Secure your offer letter and confirm your employer's timeline well before that 90-day window opens.
Verify prevailing wage requirements for your role
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your sports occupation in the employer's county before accepting an offer. DOL requires employers to pay at least this rate, and knowing the figure helps you catch errors in the labor certification before they cause a denial.
Check that your employer is E-Verify enrolled
Some H-2B-dependent employers are required to use E-Verify to confirm work authorization. Ask during the offer stage whether the employer participates, since sports facilities in certain states have mandatory enrollment requirements that affect your onboarding timeline after you arrive.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Sports jobs that offer H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search sports-related roles filtered specifically for employers with confirmed H-2B filing history. That means every result is from an employer who has already gone through DOL labor certification for seasonal positions, rather than one you'd need to educate about the process from scratch.
Does the H-2B annual cap affect when I can start a Sports job?
Yes. USCIS issues 66,000 H-2B visas per year, split into two allocations: 33,000 for employment starting October through March, and 33,000 for April through September. Sports roles tied to ski season fall in the first half; summer stadium and recreation jobs fall in the second. Employers file up to 90 days before your start date, and both halves historically fill before the period opens, so early applications are essential.
What documents do I need before an employer can sponsor my H-2B visa for a Sports role?
You'll need a valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity beyond your intended stay, proof of your qualifications for the specific sports role, and your employment offer letter. Your employer handles the DOL labor certification and the USCIS I-129 petition, but providing complete personal documents early prevents delays on their end.
Can I change Sports employers after entering the U.S. on an H-2B visa?
You can only work for the employer listed on your approved H-2B petition. Changing employers requires the new employer to file a separate labor certification with DOL and a new I-129 petition with USCIS before you begin working for them. Working for an unapproved employer while your new petition is pending violates your status.
