Document your executive track record
H-2B visa petitions for VP roles require proof the position is genuinely temporary. Compile org charts, project timelines, and board resolutions that show defined start and end dates for the seasonal leadership scope you'll fill.
Target employers with prior H-2B filings
Search for companies that have already navigated DOL labor certification. Experienced H-2B sponsors understand the SWA recruitment steps and prevailing wage requirements, reducing delays that first-time filers typically face in senior-role petitions.
Verify your wage against OFLC standards
VP-level H-2B positions must meet the prevailing wage for the specific SOC code and work location. Use the OFLC Wage Search before accepting any offer to confirm the employer's proposed wage satisfies DOL certification requirements.
Find sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Search Vice President openings with verified H-2B sponsorship history on Migrate Mate. Filter by industry and seasonal period so you're targeting employers whose DOL filings align with your availability and the correct cap half.
Align your start date with cap deadlines
The 66,000 annual cap splits into two 33,000 halves. October 1 starts fall under the winter half; April 1 starts fall under the summer half. Confirm your employer files within the correct filing window to avoid cap exhaustion.
Clarify temporary scope in the job offer letter
USCIS scrutinizes VP-level H-2B petitions for evidence of genuine temporary need. Your offer letter should specify the seasonal project, its defined end date, and why permanent executive hiring isn't the employer's current solution.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Vice President jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended way to search for Vice President roles where employers have active H-2B sponsorship history. Because H-2B sponsorship requires significant DOL preparation on the employer's side, targeting companies already familiar with the process saves time. Migrate Mate surfaces employers by filing history so you're not starting cold with organizations that have never sponsored before.
How does the H-2B annual cap affect Vice President applications?
The H-2B program issues 66,000 visas per fiscal year, split evenly between October 1 and April 1 start dates. Each half-year cap fills quickly, sometimes within days of the filing window opening. For VP roles with a defined seasonal start date, your employer needs to file as early as possible in the applicable window to avoid cap exhaustion before your petition is processed.
Does a Vice President role qualify for H-2B status?
A VP role can qualify if the employer demonstrates genuinely temporary or seasonal need, not just a preference for a short-term hire. The position must have a fixed end date tied to a seasonal business cycle, a one-time project, or a peak-demand period. USCIS will scrutinize whether the scope is inherently temporary rather than an ongoing executive function the employer has simply chosen to staff temporarily.
What does the DOL labor certification process involve for VP-level H-2B petitions?
Before filing with USCIS, the employer must obtain a temporary labor certification from DOL, which includes posting the job through the State Workforce Agency, conducting domestic recruitment, and establishing a prevailing wage for the VP role's SOC code and work location. The certification confirms no qualified U.S. workers are available for the temporary position, a standard that applies regardless of seniority level.
