Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Field Manager
Document your supervisory experience precisely
Field Manager petitions require proof you've directed crews, not just worked alongside them. Collect reference letters naming the number of workers you supervised, the season length, and the specific tasks you coordinated, since vague employment letters trigger RFEs.
Use O*NET to align your application
The O*NET occupation profile for Field Managers lists the exact skill clusters DOL reviewers expect to see matched in your petition. Cross-referencing your resume against those competencies before submission strengthens the employer's case during labor certification review.
Target employers with prior H-2B certification history
Employers who've completed DOL labor certification before know the timeline and requirements. Search Migrate Mate to identify Field Manager roles at companies with documented H-2B visa filing history, so you're not waiting on an employer who's learning the process for the first time.
Understand which cap half covers your start date
The 66,000-visa cap splits into two halves: 33,000 for jobs starting October through March and 33,000 for April through September. Field Manager roles tied to spring planting or summer construction must file under the summer half, which historically fills within weeks of opening.
Confirm your employer filed the ETA-9142B correctly
USCIS rejects petitions when the ETA-9142B classification code or job duties description doesn't match the DOL-certified labor certification. Ask your employer to share both documents side by side before the I-129 is submitted so inconsistencies get caught early.
Request the prevailing wage determination before negotiating
Your employer must pay at least the DOL-certified prevailing wage for your occupation and work location. Check the OFLC Wage Search to verify the wage level assigned to your role, so you know the floor before any offer is finalized.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Field Manager jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for Field Manager positions at employers with active H-2B filing history. Filtering by visa type and job title shows you companies that have already navigated DOL labor certification, meaning they understand the requirements and are prepared to sponsor qualified candidates through the full process.
How does the H-2B visa cap affect my Field Manager application timing?
The H-2B program issues a maximum of 66,000 visas per fiscal year, split evenly between the two semi-annual periods. For Field Manager roles tied to spring and summer seasons, petitions compete for the April-through-September allocation, which can reach its limit within the first few weeks of the filing window opening. Employers must submit the DOL labor certification well in advance to stay ahead of the cap.
Does a Field Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation under H-2B?
H-2B is not a specialty occupation visa. It covers temporary non-agricultural positions that are seasonal, peakload, intermittent, or one-time in nature. Field Manager roles in landscaping, forestry, or construction qualify when the employer demonstrates the need is genuinely temporary and ties to a defined season or project, not a permanent operational need.
Can I switch employers while working in the U.S. on an H-2B visa as a Field Manager?
H-2B status is employer-specific, so you can't simply transfer to a new company the way some other visa holders can. A new employer must file a separate petition, obtain a new DOL labor certification, and receive USCIS approval before you begin working for them. Gaps in employment between employers can jeopardize your lawful status, so timing any transition carefully is essential.
