Front Desk Agent jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship are available at hotels, resorts, and seasonal lodges that hire temporary workers each summer and winter season. Document your hospitality credentials before applying
Gather proof of any front desk, reservation system, or guest services experience before you approach employers. H-2B visa petitions require your employer to justify the hire, and a clear work history in hospitality strengthens that case at the DOL stage.
Target resorts with recurring seasonal hiring patterns
Hotels and ski resorts that file H-2B petitions year after year already have the DOL certification process mapped out. Applying to employers with an established seasonal workforce pipeline cuts your risk of delays caused by a first-time filer.
Search verified H-2B employers through Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate shows which hospitality employers have active H-2B sponsorship history, so you're not guessing which front desk roles are genuinely open to international workers. Filter by season and location to find the right timing for your situation.
Confirm the employer files before the cap cutoff
The 66,000 annual H-2B cap splits into two halves: 33,000 for October through March and 33,000 for April through September. Ask your prospective employer which half they file under and whether they've historically hit the cap deadline, since late filings risk losing a visa slot.
Verify your job offer references a specific start date
DOL requires H-2B petitions to show a genuine temporary need tied to a defined season. Your offer letter must state a clear start date and end date for the front desk position, not just a vague seasonal window, or the labor certification can be challenged.
Check the O*NET profile for your occupation code
The DOL uses O*NET occupation codes to classify H-2B roles. Front desk agents typically fall under hotel, motel, and resort desk clerks. Confirming your role matches the right code before your employer files prevents a mismatch that could delay or derail certification.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Front Desk Agent jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search hospitality employers that have actively sponsored H-2B workers, so you can focus on front desk roles at hotels, resorts, and lodges that already understand the filing process. Filtering by season and location helps you match openings to the specific cap period your timeline falls under, rather than applying broadly and hoping the employer can sponsor.
How does the H-2B cap affect my chances of getting a Front Desk Agent visa?
The H-2B program issues 66,000 visas per fiscal year, split evenly between the winter and summer halves. Resorts and hotels that hire for peak seasons often hit their cap allocation fast, especially in years when USCIS receives more petitions than slots available. Filing early in the cap period and choosing an employer who submits on the earliest eligible date significantly reduces the risk of being shut out.
Does a Front Desk Agent role qualify as a temporary position under H-2B rules?
Yes, but the employer must demonstrate the need is genuinely seasonal or temporary, not a permanent operational requirement. For front desk positions, this typically means the hotel or resort can show a documented spike in occupancy during a defined season. Year-round front desk roles at properties with stable occupancy can face challenges at the DOL labor certification stage if the temporary nature isn't clearly established.
What happens to my H-2B status if my Front Desk Agent job ends early?
If your seasonal position ends before your authorized period expires, you're expected to depart the U.S. or transfer to another approved H-2B employer within ten days. USCIS does not automatically grant extensions or grace periods beyond that window. If your employer ends the season early due to low occupancy, confirm the exact end date in writing so you can plan your departure or next steps accordingly.
