Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Sales Specialist
Confirm your role qualifies as temporary
H-2B visa covers seasonal and peak-load needs, not permanent sales positions. Ask prospective employers to confirm their need is tied to a recurring season or a one-time event before you invest time in the application process.
Pull your O*NET occupational profile early
Your employer's labor certification must align with the DOL's occupational classification for Sales Specialist roles. Reviewing the O*NET profile before your offer letter is drafted helps catch mismatches that delay certification.
Search Migrate Mate to find verified H-2B sponsors
Use Migrate Mate to filter Sales Specialist openings by employers with documented H-2B filing history, so you're targeting companies that have completed the labor certification process before, not those learning it alongside you.
Verify the prevailing wage before accepting an offer
Your employer must pay at least the DOL-certified prevailing wage for your role and location. Run the OFLC Wage Search yourself so you know the floor before negotiating, and flag any discrepancy to your employer immediately.
Track which annual cap half covers your start date
The 66,000 H-2B cap splits into two halves: October through March and April through September. If your seasonal sales role starts in summer, you're competing in a smaller filing window, so make sure your employer files as early as USCIS allows.
Request a copy of the certified labor certification
Once DOL certifies the employer's temporary labor certification, ask for a copy before your I-129 is filed with USCIS. Errors in the certified document are harder to correct after filing and can stall your start date.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Sales Specialist jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Sales Specialist openings specifically by employers with H-2B filing history, so you're only seeing roles where sponsorship is a realistic option. Because H-2B requires the employer to complete a DOL labor certification before USCIS can process your petition, targeting companies already familiar with that process significantly reduces delays and failed applications.
Does the H-2B annual cap affect when I can start a Sales Specialist role?
Yes. USCIS issues a maximum of 66,000 H-2B visas per fiscal year, split into two 33,000-slot halves by start date. If your employer misses the filing window for your half, you may not receive a visa even if the petition is otherwise approvable. Employers filing for summer sales roles should submit as early as USCIS begins accepting petitions for that period.
Can I change employers if I'm already in the U.S. on an H-2B visa?
H-2B status is employer-specific, so you can't simply transfer to a new sales employer without a new petition. Your new employer must complete a fresh DOL labor certification and file a new I-129 with USCIS. You also cannot begin work for the new employer until USCIS approves the new petition, which means timing a job change mid-season is often impractical.
What documents should I prepare before an employer files my H-2B petition?
You'll need a valid passport with at least six months of validity beyond your intended stay, and copies of any prior U.S. visa records if applicable. For Sales Specialist roles, having documentation of relevant sales experience or training can support the employer's case that you meet the job requirements stated in the certified labor certification. Your employer handles DOL and USCIS filings, but your records need to be ready quickly once the process starts.
