Home Lending Advisor Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a home lending advisor in Ohio?
You become a home lending advisor in Ohio by obtaining a Mortgage Loan Originator license through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System, administered in Ohio by the Department of Commerce Division of Financial Institutions. Candidates must complete pre-licensure education, pass the SAFE MLO exam, and clear a background check. Most employers prefer a bachelor's degree in finance or business, though strong sales experience in banking or lending can substitute for formal education.
Which companies hire home lending advisors in Ohio?
Ohio home lending advisor roles are posted by JPMorganChase and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Ohio's dense network of regional banks, credit unions, and community lenders means openings are distributed across the state rather than concentrated at a single employer.
Which Ohio cities have the most home lending advisor jobs?
Toledo, Mansfield, and Lima have the most home lending advisor openings in Ohio. Columbus leads because it is home to major bank headquarters and a fast-growing housing market, while Cleveland and Cincinnati support large regional bank branch networks and active purchase lending activity driven by their established suburban real estate corridors.
Are there remote home lending advisor jobs in Ohio?
Yes, but they're limited. About 0% of home lending advisor openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the relationship-driven nature of mortgage origination that favors in-person client contact. The parts of the role most suited to remote work are processing, rate consultation, and follow-up communications rather than initial client meetings or closings.
How can I get hired as a home lending advisor in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a bank teller or personal banker role at an Ohio institution like Huntington, Fifth Third, or KeyBank, where internal transfer programs actively move high performers into lending. Large Ohio credit unions such as Wright-Patt Credit Union and Directions Credit Union run associate lending programs for career changers. Completing NMLS pre-licensure education and passing the SAFE exam before applying gives candidates a meaningful edge over those who have not yet started the licensing process.
Where can I find and apply to home lending advisor jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to home lending advisor jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
