HVAC Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a hvac in Delaware?
To work as an hvac technician in Delaware, you must obtain a license through the Delaware Division of Professional Regulation, which oversees HVAC licensing in the state. Most candidates complete a formal apprenticeship through a trade school or union program, earn an EPA Section 608 certification, and accumulate supervised field hours before sitting for the journeyperson exam. Delaware recognizes both residential and commercial license tiers depending on your intended scope of work.
Which companies hire hvacs in Delaware?
Delaware hvac roles are posted by Horizon Services, Sobieski, and F.H. Furr Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning, and Electrical and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of healthcare campuses, chemical facilities, and commercial real estate creates steady year-round demand from both large institutional employers and regional mechanical contractors.
Which Delaware cities have the most hvac jobs?
Newark, Wilmington, and New Castle have the most hvac openings in Delaware. Wilmington drives the largest share of demand as the state's primary commercial and corporate hub, where office towers, hospitals, and financial institutions require full-time HVAC staff, while Dover's government facilities and Newark's university and suburban growth add consistent volume across the rest of the state.
Are there remote hvac jobs in Delaware?
Yes, but they're rare. HVAC work is fundamentally hands-on and site-dependent, so most roles require physical presence to install, service, or diagnose equipment. About 0% of hvac openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to be in project management, estimating, or building controls system oversight rather than field technician work.
How can I get hired as a hvac in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a registered apprenticeship program, and Delaware candidates can apply through union halls affiliated with the United Association or the Sheet Metal Workers, both of which sponsor apprenticeships in the Wilmington area. Entry-level helper and maintenance assistant roles at large facilities like Christiana Care or commercial property management companies often accept candidates without a license provided they are actively enrolled in an apprenticeship. Earning your EPA Section 608 certification before applying gives you a concrete edge over candidates who have none.
Where can I find and apply to hvac jobs in Delaware?
You can find and apply to hvac jobs in Delaware on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the listings, find the roles that match your experience and credentials, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
