Industrial Engineer Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a industrial engineer in Colorado?
Industrial engineers in Colorado typically enter the field with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or a related discipline from an accredited program. Colorado does not require a state license to work as an industrial engineer in private industry, though engineers who offer services to the public may pursue a Professional Engineer license through the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers, and Professional Land Surveyors. Many employers also value Lean or Six Sigma certifications.
How much do industrial engineers make in Colorado?
Industrial engineers in Colorado earn a median of about $109,750 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $80,480 for the lowest 10% to over $159,990 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire industrial engineers in Colorado?
Employers hiring industrial engineers in Colorado right now include Sargent & Lundy, GE Vernova, and BAE Systems USA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Colorado's aerospace and defense sector, anchored in the Denver metro and Colorado Springs corridors, generates consistent demand alongside manufacturers and logistics operations along the Front Range.
Which Colorado cities have the most industrial engineer jobs?
Englewood, Colorado Springs, and Colorado account for the largest share of industrial engineer openings in Colorado. Denver drives the highest volume through its concentration of aerospace contractors, corporate headquarters, and advanced manufacturing operations, while Colorado Springs draws significant demand from defense installations and systems engineering firms, and Boulder attracts roles tied to technology-adjacent manufacturing and research-driven companies.
Are there remote industrial engineer jobs in Colorado?
Yes, but they're rare. Industrial engineering work is frequently hands-on, tied to plant floors, production lines, or physical facilities that require an on-site presence. About 100% of industrial engineer openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with most of those roles weighted toward analytical or systems-focused work such as supply chain modeling, process documentation, or enterprise resource planning implementation.
How can I get hired as a industrial engineer in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to co-op and new-graduate rotational programs run by Colorado's major aerospace and defense employers, where candidates without industry experience are considered on the strength of their engineering coursework and projects. Lockheed Martin and Raytheon both run structured early-career programs at their Colorado facilities. Adjacent roles such as production coordinator, quality technician, or operations analyst are common lateral entry points, and earning a Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt credential before applying gives candidates a measurable edge in competitive applicant pools.
Where can I find and apply to industrial engineer jobs in Colorado?
