Industrial Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an industrial engineer in Texas?
Industrial engineers in Texas typically need a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program. While a license is not required for most private-sector roles, engineers who work on public projects or advance to senior consulting positions often pursue licensure through the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, starting with the Fundamentals of Engineering exam. Earning a Six Sigma or lean certification also strengthens candidacy significantly in Texas's manufacturing and logistics markets.
How much do industrial engineers make in Texas?
Industrial engineers in Texas earn a median of about $104,560 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $67,490 for the lowest 10% to over $168,670 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire industrial engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring industrial engineers in Texas right now include Apple, TIC - The Industrial Company, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of aerospace, defense, energy, and large-scale manufacturing operations means hiring is consistent year-round across both Fortune 500 headquarters and major production facilities.
Which Texas cities have the most industrial engineer jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Richardson have the most industrial engineer openings in Texas. Houston's energy and petrochemical industry and Dallas-Fort Worth's dense concentration of aerospace, defense, and logistics employers drive most of the volume, while San Antonio's Toyota and Boeing facilities create steady demand for process and manufacturing engineers in that corridor.
Are there remote industrial engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're relatively rare. Industrial engineering work is largely hands-on, tied to production floors, warehouses, and facilities that require an on-site presence. About 6% of industrial engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. The portions of the role most likely to go remote are data analysis, process documentation, and supply chain planning work that doesn't require direct equipment or facility access.
How can I get hired as an industrial engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a co-op or internship during your degree, which Texas employers like ExxonMobil, Lockheed Martin, and Toyota Manufacturing actively use to build their entry-level pipeline. New graduates can also apply directly to associate industrial engineer or process improvement analyst roles, which are common in Texas manufacturing and distribution operations. Completing a Lean Six Sigma White or Yellow Belt certification before graduating gives a measurable edge and signals readiness for Texas's process-driven industries.
Where can I find and apply to industrial engineer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to industrial engineer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and location, and apply directly through the listings.
