Lead Maintenance Technician – Food Manufacturing & Filling Systems
Location: Oklahoma City, OKJob Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Lead Maintenance Technician to oversee the maintenance, reliability, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of equipment within our food manufacturing facility.
This is a lead technical position for someone who is comfortable taking ownership of a manufacturing facility’s maintenance program—not simply responding to breakdowns.
A key part of this role will be supporting and optimizing our tahini filling and packaging lines. The ideal candidate will have experience with automated or semi-automated liquid/viscous-product filling equipment similar to systems used in sauces, mayonnaise, ketchup, dressings, beverages, oils, or other food products.
The technician must be comfortable understanding machine settings and product/filling recipes, making recipe and parameter changes, adjusting equipment for different products and package sizes, troubleshooting filling issues, and optimizing line performance.
Key Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance & Reliability
- Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program for the facility.
- Establish PM schedules and maintenance procedures for production and utility equipment.
- Maintain maintenance records, equipment histories, spare-parts requirements, and service schedules.
- Identify recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions rather than relying solely on temporary repairs.
- Help establish appropriate spare-parts inventory and critical-parts requirements.
- Coordinate outside contractors and equipment manufacturers when specialized service is required.
Filling & Packaging Equipment
- Operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize automated and semi-automated filling and packaging equipment.
- Understand and modify machine recipes, operating parameters, and product settings on filling equipment/HMI controls.
- Perform filling-line changeovers and equipment adjustments for different products, container sizes, fill weights, and production requirements.
- Diagnose issues involving fill accuracy, product flow, pumps, valves, sensors, conveyors, container handling, capping, and labeling.
- Work with production personnel to improve line efficiency, reduce downtime, and minimize product waste.
- Assist with commissioning, installation, and modification of new production equipment.
Equipment Experience
Candidates should have strong hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience with several of the following:
- Food filling and packaging machines
- Labeling and coding equipment
- Conveyors and material-handling systems
- Pumps, valves, piping, and product-transfer systems
- Industrial grinders/mills
- Chillers and cooling systems
- Boilers and hot-water systems
- Air compressors and pneumatic systems
- Forklifts and material-handling equipment
- Motors, gearboxes, bearings, and mechanical drives
- Sensors, switches, relays, VFDs, and basic industrial electrical systems
- PLC/HMI-controlled production equipment
Qualifications
- Strong industrial maintenance experience, preferably in food, beverage, sauce, condiment, dairy, bottling, or similar manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting automated production and packaging equipment.
- Experience working with filling machines for liquids, semi-liquids, or viscous products is highly preferred.
- Ability to understand and adjust equipment recipes and operating parameters through an HMI or machine control system.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with practical electrical knowledge.
- Ability to read equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Experience developing or managing a preventive maintenance program is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize maintenance activities, and take ownership of equipment reliability.
- PLC troubleshooting experience is a plus.
- Welding/fabrication experience is a plus.
- Food manufacturing/GMP experience is strongly preferred.
