Insurance Jobs in Memphis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a insurance job in Memphis?
Focus on the carrier offices, independent agencies, and regional brokerages concentrated in East Memphis and the Downtown financial district, which generate the most consistent hiring. Health and life roles tied to Memphis's large hospital and healthcare network are especially active, as are commercial lines positions serving the city's logistics and transportation sector. Candidates who hold or are actively pursuing a state license and can demonstrate client-facing communication skills move to the front of the line here.
Which companies hire insurances in Memphis?
Employers hiring insurances in Memphis right now include Kemper, GI ALLIANCE, and Cal Inspection Bureau, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Memphis draws a mix of national carriers with regional offices, homegrown independent agencies, and third-party administrators serving the area's large employer base in healthcare, logistics, and manufacturing.
Are there remote insurance jobs in Memphis?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the role, since field adjusters and in-person agents work on-site while underwriters, claims analysts, and customer service representatives often work remotely. About 100% of insurance openings tied to Memphis are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting broader industry trends. Desk-based roles in underwriting and claims processing represent the largest share of remote-eligible positions connected to Memphis employers.
How can I get a insurance job in Memphis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a customer service or call center role at one of the claims processing centers or regional carrier offices in East Memphis, where many companies hire without prior insurance experience and train on the job. Getting your Tennessee Property and Casualty or Life and Health license before applying signals seriousness and removes a common hiring barrier. Captive agency roles with carriers operating in the Memphis metro are also known for structured onboarding programs aimed at career changers.
