IT Architect Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it architect in Tennessee?
There is no state-issued license required to work as an it architect in Tennessee. The standard hiring path begins with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, followed by several years of progressively senior IT roles such as systems analyst, solutions engineer, or infrastructure lead. Tennessee employers strongly favor candidates who hold vendor-neutral credentials like TOGAF or cloud certifications from AWS or Microsoft, and those with a documented portfolio of enterprise architecture projects.
How much do IT architects make in Tennessee?
IT architects in Tennessee earn a median of about $76,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $45,870 for the lowest 10% to over $129,430 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire it architects in Tennessee?
Employers hiring it architects in Tennessee right now include Boston Consulting, GEODIS, and XTIVIA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's concentration of major healthcare systems, financial institutions, and logistics companies means demand for architects who understand regulated-industry data environments is especially consistent.
Which Tennessee cities have the most it architect jobs?
Brentwood, Nashville, and Memphis have the most it architect openings in Tennessee. Nashville drives the bulk of demand through its dense cluster of healthcare corporations, insurance carriers, and financial technology firms, while Memphis reflects FedEx and its extensive supply-chain technology operations, and Knoxville benefits from Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Tennessee Valley Authority's ongoing infrastructure modernization.
Are there remote it architect jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 50% of it architect openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the largely desk-based, design-oriented nature of the work. Architecture roles involving documentation, roadmap planning, and vendor evaluation are the most likely to run fully remote, while positions requiring hands-on data center work or embedded collaboration with clinical or operations teams tend to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a it architect in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a systems administrator, software developer, or infrastructure engineer role into an associate or junior architect position. Large Tennessee employers like HCA Healthcare and Tennessee Valley Authority post rotational technology programs and associate-level architecture roles that accept candidates with two to three years of related experience rather than a full architect background. Earning a TOGAF Foundation certificate and building a documented design portfolio showing even one internal or academic architecture project gives applicants a concrete edge when competing for these entry-level openings.
Where can I find and apply to it architect jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to it architect jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and target industry, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
