IT Manager Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it manager in Colorado?
Most Colorado employers require a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related discipline combined with several years of hands-on IT experience before moving into management. Colorado does not issue a state license for IT managers, so hiring decisions center on demonstrated leadership experience, industry certifications such as PMP or ITIL, and a record of overseeing infrastructure or security programs. Pursuing roles in Colorado's aerospace, healthcare, or financial services sectors can accelerate the path significantly.
How much do IT managers make in Colorado?
IT managers in Colorado earn a median of about $199,420 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $130,570 for the lowest 10% to over $293,250 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire it managers in Colorado?
Employers hiring it managers in Colorado right now include KBR, SAIC, and Dolby, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Colorado's concentration of defense contractors, large hospital networks, and financial firms means demand for IT managers with enterprise and compliance experience remains consistent throughout the year.
Which Colorado cities have the most it manager jobs?
The cities with the most it manager openings in Colorado are Denver, Colorado Springs, and Lakewood. Denver drives the largest share due to its density of corporate headquarters, healthcare systems, and financial services firms, while Colorado Springs draws steady demand from defense and government contractors, and Boulder's technology and bioscience sector supports consistent openings at growing mid-size companies.
Are there remote it manager jobs in Colorado?
Yes, and more than many management roles, because IT oversight of cloud systems, vendor contracts, and distributed teams can be handled without being on-site daily. About 64% of it manager openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting employer flexibility in the tech and financial services sectors. Roles tied to physical infrastructure, data centers, or regulated healthcare environments tend to require more in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a it manager in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into an IT manager role from a senior individual contributor position such as systems administrator, network engineer, or IT support lead at a Colorado employer. Large Colorado organizations like UCHealth and Lockheed Martin hire for lead technician and team lead roles that carry informal management duties and build the experience needed to step into formal management. Earning a PMP or ITIL certification while in a senior technical role strengthens applications, and Colorado's community college workforce programs offer project management coursework that complements on-the-job experience.
Where can I find and apply to it manager jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to it manager jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Find roles that match your experience and specialization and apply directly to the ones that fit.
