Overview:
Department: Core Lab
Schedule: Fulltime - Days, 8am-4:30pm
Facility: Saint Francis Hospital
Location: Evanston, IL
Responsibilities:
The General Laboratory Manager provides administrative, operational, and technical leadership for Core Laboratory services, including Chemistry, Immunoassay, Hematology, Coagulation, and Immunology.
This individual:
1) is responsible for overseeing high-volume, automated laboratory operations, ensuring efficient workflow, quality testing, regulatory compliance, and optimal utilization of laboratory instrumentation and automation systems
2) supports centralized testing across multiple hospital sites, ensuring standardization, scalability, and high-quality patient care
3) collaborates closely with the Laboratory Medical Director, Core Laboratory Director, nursing, physicians, and hospital leadership to support clinical operations and patient outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science or related field required.

ASCP certification (MLS or equivalent) preferred.

Minimum five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience required, with experience in core laboratory disciplines.

Minimum two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Experience in high-volume, automated core laboratory environments strongly preferred.

Experience with laboratory automation systems, middleware, and LIS (e.g., Epic Beaker) preferred.

Strong knowledge of:
- Chemistry and immunoassay testing
- Hematology and coagulation testing
- Immunology and autoimmune testing
- Quality control and regulatory requirements
- Laboratory automation and workflow optimization

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $100,006.40 to $134,596.80 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
