Job Description
Full-Time Hiring Range: $67,350 to $84,200; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
The Laboratory Manager (LM) is responsible for the smooth running of the Earth and Environmental Sciences Department’s research and teaching labs in Devlin Hall. On the instructional side, this includes: assisting with the development and archiving of lab exercises for courses; coordinating with teaching assistants on course materials/content; assisting with organization and prep for field trips (may attend field trips as needed); archiving and updating lab materials and collections; and coordinating lab scheduling with the Assistant Director of Administrative and Student Services. On the research side, this includes: developing and communicating standard operating procedures for lab equipment and department printers; training of students and staff on shared lab equipment; coordinating usage schedules of shared facilities; ordering and receiving supplies and equipment; making suggestions for new capital equipment requests; and coordinating installation, maintenance, and disposal of lab equipment. The LM is responsible for the scheduling, maintenance and safety of the department vehicles. The LM also acts as the department operations manager and collaborates closely with the Executive Director of Research Infrastructure & Operations in this capacity. This role includes coordinating with Facilities and Capital Projects around work orders and renovations, respectively. The LM is the lab safety representative and is the main point of contact between the department and Environmental Health & Safety, which includes ensuring that department personnel and lab spaces are compliant with EH&S procedures. This includes: ordering, receiving, storing and disposing of chemicals, and incident reporting.

Requirements
A Master of Science degree in a geosciences area is the minimum requirement of the position. A doctoral degree would enable potential additional responsibilities, such as teaching courses in an overload capacity.
Night/weekend presence on-site, in particular in response to emergencies, will be occasionally required.
Must be able to lift ~50 pounds.
