Licensed Clinical Social Worker Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a licensed clinical social worker in Indiana?
To become a licensed clinical social worker in Indiana, you must earn a Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE-accredited program, complete the required post-graduate supervised clinical hours under an approved supervisor, and pass the ASWB Clinical examination. Licensure is issued through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, which oversees the LCSW credential. After meeting the supervised experience requirement, candidates apply through the Indiana PLA portal to obtain their license before practicing independently.
Which companies hire licensed clinical social workers in Indiana?
Companies currently hiring licensed clinical social workers in Indiana include Behavioral Care Solutions, BetterHelp, and Exceptional Living Centers, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Indiana's largest employers in this field tend to be integrated health systems, community mental health organizations, and state-contracted child welfare agencies with ongoing caseload needs.
Which Indiana cities have the most licensed clinical social worker jobs?
Indiana, Fort Wayne, and South Bend have the most licensed clinical social worker openings in Indiana. Indianapolis drives the highest volume as the state's population and healthcare center, home to major hospital systems and community mental health networks, while Fort Wayne and Evansville each support regional medical centers and county social services agencies that create consistent hiring outside the capital.
Are there remote licensed clinical social worker jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they are less common than in many other fields because licensed clinical social workers often provide direct, in-person care, assessments, and case management. About 55% of licensed clinical social worker openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and the positions most suited to remote work tend to involve telehealth therapy, care coordination, or utilization review rather than hands-on crisis or field services.
How can I get hired as a licensed clinical social worker in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for positions that accept associate-level or pre-licensure candidates, such as Licensed Social Worker (LSW) roles, while you accrue the supervised hours needed for full LCSW licensure. Indiana University Health, Eskenazi Health, and Centerstone are among the employer types that hire MSW graduates into supervised clinical roles specifically structured to support licensure. Lateral moves from case manager, mental health technician, or social services assistant positions are also common. Completing your post-graduate supervision contract with a credentialed Indiana supervisor and documenting your hours from the outset puts you in the strongest position.
