Licensed Practical Nurse Jobs in Wyoming: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a licensed practical nurse in Wyoming?
You must complete an accredited practical nursing program, pass the NCLEX-PN examination, and obtain a license from the Wyoming State Board of Nursing before practicing. Wyoming participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, so nurses already holding a multistate compact license from another compact state may work in Wyoming without obtaining a separate state license. Applications are submitted directly to the Wyoming State Board of Nursing, which also handles endorsement for nurses licensed in non-compact states.
How much do licensed practical nurses make in Wyoming?
Licensed practical nurses in Wyoming earn a median of about $63,460 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,700 for the lowest 10% to over $77,000 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire licensed practical nurses in Wyoming?
Wyoming licensed practical nurse roles are posted by Naphcare, Cody Regional Health, and Sheridan Memorial Hospital and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Wyoming's mix of critical access hospitals, long-term care chains, and behavioral health providers means hiring is distributed across the state rather than concentrated in a single large system.
Which Wyoming cities have the most licensed practical nurse jobs?
Cody, Rawlins, and Sheridan consistently post the most licensed practical nurse openings in Wyoming. Cheyenne and Casper drive the highest volume as the state's two largest population centers with the most hospital beds, specialist clinics, and long-term care facilities, while Gillette's energy industry workforce and surrounding rural population support steady LPN demand in both occupational health and community care settings.
Are there remote licensed practical nurse jobs in Wyoming?
Yes, but they're rare. Licensed practical nursing is a hands-on clinical role, so the large majority of positions require on-site presence in a facility, clinic, or patient home. About 0% of licensed practical nurse openings tied to Wyoming are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those that exist tend to involve telephone triage, care coordination, or utilization review rather than direct bedside care.
How can I get hired as a licensed practical nurse in Wyoming with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to long-term care facilities and skilled nursing homes, which consistently hire new LPNs and offer structured orientation programs. Wyoming Medical Center in Casper and Cheyenne Regional Medical Center both run new-graduate onboarding tracks for LPNs entering hospital settings. Candidates who have worked as certified nursing assistants or medical assistants hold a practical advantage because those roles share clinical workflows. Holding an active Wyoming or compact multistate LPN license before applying, even without post-graduation experience, moves applications forward faster at most Wyoming facilities.
Where can I find and apply to licensed practical nurse jobs in Wyoming?
You can find and apply to licensed practical nurse jobs in Wyoming on Migrate Mate, which lists current Wyoming openings across hospitals, long-term care facilities, outpatient clinics, and behavioral health providers. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your license level and preferred location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
