LCG Freight is seeking a highly capable Intermodal Logistics Strategist to plan, coordinate, and execute container movements across port and rail operations.
This is not a traditional dispatch role. This position is designed for someone who can think critically, manage multiple variables simultaneously, and make sound operational decisions in real time.
Every container has different requirements — location, customer expectations, chassis availability, driver qualifications, and timing constraints. The right candidate will be able to track, prioritize, and execute all of these moving parts without losing accuracy or efficiency for a high number of containers moving each day.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategically plan large volumes of container movements and manage daily intermodal container activity from port/rail through delivery and return
- Maintain full operational awareness of each container, including location, assigned driver, chassis, customer, and delivery requirements
- Ensure proper equipment pairing (truck + chassis) and compliance with load-specific needs (overweight permits, tanker endorsements, etc.)
- Understand and actively work around driver Hours of Service (HOS) when assigning work keeping optimal efficiency
- Ensure operational discipline in movement planning — drivers pulling and returning their own containers where required
- Monitor port and terminal online systems, cutoffs, and operational changes to avoid delays or service failures
- Communicate clearly and professionally with other employees and contractors while maintaining a strong effective working relationship
- Anticipate issues before they happen and solve problems quickly when they arise
- Balance multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
What This Role Is NOT
- Role does not schedule load with warehouses
- Role does not handle any equipment repair or truck down issues
- Role does not deal with customer rate quotes
This role is focused on planning, execution, and operational strategy — not administrative tasks.

- Capable to handle 24/7 on call load assistance for drivers (NOT equipment issues)
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Ability to manage multiple variables simultaneously without losing control of details
- Excellent organizational skills and working memory
- Strong communication skills with a very personable, professional approach
- Ability to remain composed and effective in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in intermodal movement required
- Familiarity with port systems, terminal operations, and customer-specific requirements is a strong advantage
- Understanding of Hours of Service (HOS) regulations preferred
