What You Will Do

This position will be filled at either the Program Manager 1/2, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

The Maintenance and Site Services Central Execution group (MSS-CE) is a customer-based group As a Facility Maintenance Program Manager, you will play a vital role in safeguarding the Laboratory's mission by ensuring the reliability and compliance of facility equipment across LANL facilities. Reporting directly to the Maintenance and Site Services Central Execution Maintenance Manager, you will provide technical guidance and field-based support to ensure safe, effective, and code-compliant facility equipment maintenance.

Program Manager 1 ($87,800 - $143,000)

As a Central Execution Program Manager, you will play a vital role in safeguarding the Laboratory's mission. Your daily presence in the field-working closely with craft professionals, superintendents, and work execution managers-will be essential to driving excellence in facility maintenance performance. You will author and maintain preventative maintenance instructions that are practical, compliant, and effective for field execution, while also supporting workforce qualification and training initiatives. In this role, you will actively participate in preventive and corrective maintenance efforts, as well as new project development related to systems.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee preventive maintenance programs for elevators and overhead cranes.
• Provide technical guidance to maintenance craft for troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Review and update Preventive Maintenance Instructions (PMIs) using manufacturer recommendations and industry standards.
• Ensure maintenance programs comply with applicable codes, Laboratory policies, and manufacturer requirements.
• Support Replacement-in-Kind (RIK) projects, equipment repairs, and new installations.
• Coordinate with equipment owners, and vendors to identify replacement parts and critical spares.
• Provide technical oversight of vendor-performed maintenance and repair activities.
• Maintain technical documentation, drawings, manuals, and equipment guides.
• Support the development and delivery of equipment-specific training for maintenance personnel.

Program Manager 2 ($106,400 - $176,000)

In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level you will creatively develop and present performance metrics that communicate program health, efficiency, and continuous improvement opportunities to management. What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Technical Expertise: Demonstrated experience with overhead cranes, elevators, or other complex industrial equipment. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting background. Working knowledge of industrial electrical controls, including VFDs, relay logic, motors, brakes, and control systems. Knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including ASME A17.1, ASME B30, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.179, and CMAA specifications. Experience reviewing technical documentation and applying manufacturer recommendations.

Additional Job Requirements for Program Manager 2:

In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:

Program Coordination: Experience coordinating facility maintenance programs or equipment reliability programs. Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate activities with maintenance personnel, equipment owners, and vendors. Experience supporting equipment repairs, maintenance planning, and spare parts management.

Collaboration & Communication: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively with personnel across multiple organizations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing technical documents, procedures, or reports.

Education/Experience at Program Manager 1 level: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 2 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Education/Experience at Program Manager 2 level: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

• Extensive experience with elevator and/or overhead crane maintenance, inspection, and testing.
• Experience providing technical leadership and guidance to maintenance personnel.
• Experience developing or revising preventive maintenance procedures, technical guides, or maintenance programs.
• Experience coordinating vendor services, equipment replacement projects, or Replacement-in-Kind (RIK) activities.
• Familiarity with Department of Energy (DOE) requirements or maintenance practices within a highly regulated industrial or government facility.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and manufacturer documentation.
• Experience developing or supporting technical training and qualification programs for maintenance personnel.
• Experience developing technical guidance or training materials is desirable.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Work Schedule: This job is flexible to the approved LANL work schedules. Some after-hour work or weekend support may be needed to complete projects.

Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level).
