Director of Finance

Position Summary

Vibrant Table Catering & Events is looking for an experienced, hands-on Director of Finance to lead our accounting and financial operations. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, effective budgeting and forecasting, and financial insight that supports sound business decisions.

The Director of Finance is also a key people leader, responsible for developing the accounting team, creating clear expectations and accountability, and fostering a collaborative environment where employees can learn, grow, and do their best work.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with a practical, solutions-oriented leadership style and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative hospitality environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, bank reconciliations, cash management, and general ledger maintenance.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting.
• Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models in partnership with leadership and department heads.
• Monitor financial performance and provide meaningful analysis of results, trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Develop and report financial and operational KPIs that support informed decision-making.
• Provide financial analysis related to pricing, contracts, labor, capital investments, and operational efficiency.
• Manage cash flow and treasury functions and maintain visibility into the company's financial position.
• Maintain and continually strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, approval processes, procedures, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal financial and tax requirements.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, insurance partners, and other financial advisors as needed.
• Oversee accounting responsibilities for 8th Avenue LLC, Vibrant Table's real estate holding company.
• Partner with department leaders to help them understand budgets, financial performance, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting systems, workflows, and processes.
• Lead and develop the accounting team through clear expectations, accountability, coaching, regular communication, and ongoing feedback.
• Establish appropriate cross-training and documented procedures to ensure continuity of critical accounting functions.
• Collaborate with Operations, Sales, Culinary, HR, and other departments to ensure financial processes effectively support the business.
• Model Vibrant Table's values through integrity, accountability, open communication, collaboration, respect, and continuous improvement.
• Lead with high expectations while demonstrating genuine care for the people doing the work.
• Other duties as assigned by the CEO or ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience leading an accounting function or team.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end/year-end close.
• Experience developing and maintaining strong internal financial controls and accounting processes.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop employees.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of attention to detail while maintaining an understanding of the bigger financial picture.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial team members.
• Collaborative leadership style with the ability to build strong relationships across departments.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Hospitality, catering, events, food service, or another operationally complex service business experience preferred.

• Monthly reconciliations and closing processes are consistent and well documented.
• Strong internal controls and clear financial procedures are in place and followed.
• Leadership and department heads have greater visibility into budgets, financial performance, and key business metrics.
• Financial information is used proactively to identify opportunities and inform decisions, rather than simply reporting historical results.
• The accounting team understands expectations, has clear ownership of responsibilities, and continues to grow professionally.
• The department has appropriate documentation and cross-training so critical financial responsibilities are not dependent on one individual.
• Finance is viewed as a collaborative and trusted partner across the organization.

Pay: $105,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
