Title and Summary
Manager, Product Management - MDES Localization Department OverviewMastercard’s digital payments strategy is helping accelerate the transition from physical card payments to secure digital payment experiences across mobile phones and other connected devices.
The Mastercard Digital Enablement Service, or MDES, Global Product Management team is responsible for:
- Defining the strategy and product offerings for Mastercard’s digital tokenization services.
- Localizing MDES services to meet market and regulatory requirements while maintaining a consistent user experience.
- Ensuring MDES products are secure, market-ready, and aligned with industry tokenization standards developed through EMVCo.
Role Overview
The Manager, Product Management will assess market-specific requirements and coordinate the design and implementation of localized MDES solutions, particularly in countries with domestic payment schemes, domestic switches, or complex regulatory requirements.
This individual will serve as the localization product partner to MDES product owners, helping them assess market requirements, define the localization approach, prioritize needs, and coordinate delivery. The role works across product, technology, legal, compliance, privacy, regulatory, and regional teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable product solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the MDES product portfolio and related digital products, including their purpose, design patterns, and constraints.
- Apply Mastercard’s localization archetypes to assess market requirements, identify product gaps, and recommend reusable, market-specific solutions.
- Partner with MDES product owners to define localization approaches that support their product strategies and business priorities.
- Partner with legal, compliance, privacy, and regulatory experts to understand market-specific requirements and evaluate how proposed solutions address them.
- Work with product managers, technical architects, and technology teams to translate requirements into scalable product capabilities and lead their implementation.
- Clearly communicate the capabilities and limitations of base and localized MDES services to regulatory counsel, compliance, privacy, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Create internal product documentation that captures market requirements, solution decisions, priorities, and implementation needs.
- Develop or update customer-facing implementation documentation for issuers, acquirers, and service providers using localized MDES capabilities.
- Represent the product team during certification processes required to launch localized solutions on the MDES platform.
Experience and Skills
- At least four years of relevant professional experience, including two or more years in product management or business analysis.
- Experience working with legal, compliance, regulatory, regional, or market stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with product managers to deliver market-specific solutions that align with global product strategies and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working with technical and product teams to define requirements and deliver product capabilities.
- Ability to connect product strategy with technical and customer requirements, including when designing new features or resolving product issues.
- Strong project management, problem-solving, quantitative analysis, and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Strong written communication skills, including experience creating business requirements, implementation guides, or similar product documentation.
- Experience working within Agile or Waterfall software development life cycles.
- Experience using generative AI tools to improve productivity, with appropriate review and validation to ensure the accuracy and reliability of outputs.
- Working knowledge of payment tokenization, transaction processing, and credit or debit card payments.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
