Summary
The Leveraged Finance Execution team at Huntington has primary responsibility for the structuring, underwriting, and portfolio management of financial sponsor and leveraged finance transactions for Huntington’s private equity and corporate clients across multiple specialty industry and client coverage groups, delivering the Bank’s balance sheet capital commitments in support of these transactions. Leveraged Finance Execution is highly coordinated with Huntington’s Capital Markets, Investment Banking and Sponsor Coverage teams to drive new revenue growth by delivering comprehensive financing solutions to these clients. Post-closing transactions, the team is responsible for the appropriate monitoring and management of the portfolio of these capital commitments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build and manage the team, assist in setting policy and strategy, oversee workflow and develop/mentor team members.
- Serve in player/coach role on the team, advising on and assisting in the execution of deals when appropriate.
- Oversee the team’s execution of sponsor and leveraged financing transactions, including managing time critical due diligence and underwriting activities for sophisticated clients.
- Activities include deal screening, credit approvals, client onboarding, negotiating credit agreement and other legal documentation, and assisting Capital Markets as needed for loan syndication and distribution.
- Partner with the Capital Markets, Sponsor Coverage, and Investment Banking teams as well as relevant product groups to deliver competitive financing solutions as well as assist in idea generation and other value-added services to our clients and private equity relationships.
- Coordinate with Credit / Regional Credit Officers, Investment Banking, Sponsor Coverage and Capital Markets to ensure proper identification and mitigation of market and credit risk for those transactions, protecting the Bank from credit loss.
- Manage the ongoing servicing, monitoring and management of this portfolio of credits in accordance with credit policy and regulations.
- Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with the bankers, credit team, internal credit review, and external regulatory bodies to appropriately manage portfolio risk, including internal and external reporting requirements for sponsor and leveraged lending.
- Stay current on market developments and sponsor financing structures and terms to ensure competitive positioning of Huntington in the market.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 10-15 years' experience in Leveraged Finance, including a comprehensive understanding of leveraged finance markets and trends, financial analysis, risk evaluation, and the legal and regulatory landscape, and prior management experience
- Registered Series 7, 63 and 24
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including a proven track record of building and managing high performing teams.
- Significant leveraged deal underwriting and execution experience, with an expertise in senior bank financing along with a working knowledge of other financing & capital structure alternatives such as 2nd lien, subordinated, unitranche, and high yield debt.
- Solid analytical and judgment skills, along with deep experience evaluating and mitigating credit risk.
- Highly adept at understanding and negotiating complex credit agreements and other legal documentation in coordination with internal legal team, external counsel, and financial sponsors. Employs a highly collaborative one-team approach, with proven ability to work across lines of business and product groups to deliver competitive solutions.

Compensation Range:
- $102,000 - $208,000 Annually
The compensation range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan. In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
