Managing Director Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a managing director in Georgia?
Becoming a managing director in Georgia typically requires a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related discipline, with an MBA viewed favorably by most Georgia employers. There is no state-issued license specific to the managing director title, but roles in regulated industries such as banking or real estate may require a Georgia-issued professional license. Most candidates build toward the role through progressive director or senior manager positions within Georgia's finance, logistics, or technology sectors.
How much do managing directors make in Georgia?
Managing directors in Georgia earn a median of about $103,730 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $47,440 for the lowest 10% to over $237,460 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire managing directors in Georgia?
Employers hiring managing directors in Georgia right now include CBIZ, Emory University, and Aon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Georgia's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and regional financial institutions in the Atlanta metro makes it one of the more consistent states for managing director openings year-round.
Which Georgia cities have the most managing director jobs?
Atlanta account for the most managing director openings in Georgia. Atlanta drives the majority of demand given its density of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and logistics companies, while Savannah's growing port-related operations and Augusta's healthcare and cybersecurity sectors contribute meaningful volume outside the capital metro.
Are there remote managing director jobs in Georgia?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely analytical roles because managing directors are typically accountable for on-site teams, client relationships, and operational oversight. About 55% of managing director openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting that some companies allow flexible arrangements for strategic or business-development-focused managing director roles with minimal daily floor presence.
How can I get hired as a managing director in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a director-level or senior manager role first, then building toward the managing director title. Large Georgia employers in logistics and financial services, including those headquartered in the Atlanta metro, regularly hire senior managers and operations directors who step into managing director responsibilities within a few years. Completing an MBA from a Georgia institution, earning a Project Management Professional credential, or taking on P&L ownership in a smaller Georgia business unit are the moves that most consistently open the door.
Where can I find and apply to managing director jobs in Georgia?
