Market Development Manager Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a market development manager in Massachusetts?
Most market development manager roles in Massachusetts require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, life sciences, or a closely related field, followed by experience in sales, account management, or marketing. Massachusetts does not issue a state license for this role, but employers in life sciences and medtech often prefer candidates who understand regulated product environments. Building experience at a Massachusetts biotech, SaaS company, or financial services firm is the most direct path into the role.
How much do market development managers make in Massachusetts?
Market development managers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $212,020 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $122,350 for the lowest 10% to over $310,510 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire market development managers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring market development managers in Massachusetts right now include Thermo Fisher Scientific, Leica Microsystems, and Sanofi, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of life sciences headquarters, enterprise software companies, and financial services firms means openings appear consistently throughout the year rather than only during seasonal hiring cycles.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most market development manager jobs?
Waltham, Boston, and Bedford have the most market development manager openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge dominate because of the dense cluster of biotech, medtech, and enterprise technology companies headquartered there, while the Route 128 suburban corridor adds significant volume from established technology and medical device employers with large commercial teams based outside the city core.
Are there remote market development manager jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than many sales-adjacent roles, since market development work involves research, strategy, and cross-functional coordination that can be done off-site. About 43% of market development manager openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broad adoption of flexible work in the state's technology and life sciences sectors. Territory management and client-facing responsibilities tend to require occasional in-person presence even in otherwise remote roles.
How can I get hired as a market development manager in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into market development from a business development representative, inside sales, or marketing coordinator role at a Massachusetts employer. Large life sciences companies such as Thermo Fisher Scientific and Boston Scientific run rotational commercial programs that place early-career candidates across sales and market development functions. Completing a relevant internship or obtaining a HubSpot or Salesforce certification gives candidates a concrete credential that Massachusetts hiring managers recognize and value.
Where can I find and apply to market development manager jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to market development manager jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match.
