Market Development Manager Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a market development manager in Pennsylvania?
Most market development manager roles in Pennsylvania require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, with employers in life sciences and financial services frequently preferring candidates who also hold an MBA. Pennsylvania does not issue a state license for this role, so hiring decisions center on demonstrated commercial experience, typically built through account management, sales, or product marketing positions at Pennsylvania-based companies before moving into market development.
How much do market development managers make in Pennsylvania?
Market development managers in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $150,810 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $76,990 for the lowest 10% to over $246,320 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire market development managers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring market development managers in Pennsylvania right now include Thermo Fisher Scientific, ABARTA Coca-Cola Beverages, and Expedient, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of pharmaceutical companies in the Philadelphia suburbs and large industrial manufacturers in the Pittsburgh region means openings appear consistently across both anchors of the state.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most market development manager jobs?
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Pennsylvania have the most market development manager openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia drives volume through its dense cluster of life sciences firms, financial institutions, and professional services companies along the Route 202 corridor, while Pittsburgh's technology and advanced manufacturing base generates consistent demand, and the Lehigh Valley contributes openings tied to its large healthcare systems and logistics employers.
Are there remote market development manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than many field-based sales roles, since a significant portion of market development work involves research, strategy, and stakeholder communication that can be done remotely. About 38% of market development manager openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have adopted flexible arrangements for this role. The most remote-friendly portions are market analysis, reporting, and internal strategy work, while client-facing expansion activities typically require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a market development manager in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from an account management, inside sales, or marketing coordinator role at a Pennsylvania employer and then applying internally to market development openings. Large Pennsylvania life sciences companies such as those clustered in the Philadelphia suburbs run rotational commercial programs that place early-career candidates into market-facing functions. Building a portfolio of market analysis projects, even from academic or freelance work, and earning a certificate in marketing strategy gives Pennsylvania hiring managers a concrete reason to consider a candidate without direct title experience.
Where can I find and apply to market development manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to market development manager jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings updated regularly. Search the listings to see what is available across Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, the Lehigh Valley, and other Pennsylvania markets, then apply directly to the roles that fit your background.
