Field Service Manager Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field service manager in Pennsylvania?
Most field service managers in Pennsylvania start in a technical role such as field service technician, maintenance engineer, or equipment specialist and move into management after gaining hands-on experience. Pennsylvania does not require a state-issued license specific to the field service manager title, but employers in regulated sectors like healthcare equipment or electrical systems often expect relevant industry certifications such as a Pennsylvania electrical license or manufacturer credentials. A degree in engineering or a technical discipline strengthens candidacy considerably.
How much do field service managers make in Pennsylvania?
Field service managers in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $79,400 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $50,900 for the lowest 10% to over $120,850 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire field service managers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring field service managers in Pennsylvania right now include ProAutomated, HCLTech, and DOC Maintenance, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of manufacturing plants, utility infrastructure, and healthcare systems means large industrial and facilities employers are among the most consistent sources of openings in the state.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most field service manager jobs?
Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Harrisburg account for the most field service manager openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads because of its dense concentration of healthcare networks, commercial facilities, and industrial employers, while Pittsburgh's legacy in manufacturing and energy drives steady demand, and the Lehigh Valley's logistics and distribution growth has made it an increasingly active market for service management roles.
Are there remote field service manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, but they're rare. Field service management is largely an on-site role that requires direct oversight of technicians and coordination at client locations, so fully remote positions are the exception rather than the rule. About 29% of field service manager openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to involve dispatch coordination, reporting, or account management functions that can be handled off-site.
How can I get hired as a field service manager in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is to enter as a field service technician or lead technician with a Pennsylvania employer in manufacturing, HVAC, or medical equipment, then pursue an internal promotion into a supervisory role. Large employers in Pennsylvania like Siemens and Johnson Controls regularly bring on technicians through apprenticeship and associate technician programs that build toward management eligibility. Earning a relevant industry certification and demonstrating the ability to coordinate a small crew or territory accelerates the transition considerably.
Where can I find and apply to field service manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
