Field Service Manager Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field service manager in North Carolina?
Most field service managers in North Carolina move into the role after several years as a field service technician or engineer in their industry, combined with a bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a technical discipline. North Carolina does not require a single state license for the field service manager role itself, but professionals managing HVAC or electrical service teams should be aware of North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating and Fire Sprinkler Contractors requirements, and those in healthcare technology benefit from CBET or similar biomedical certifications recognized by major employers in the state.
How much do field service managers make in North Carolina?
Field service managers in North Carolina earn a median of about $76,800 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $47,580 for the lowest 10% to over $117,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire field service managers in North Carolina?
Employers hiring field service managers in North Carolina right now include ProAutomated, Crown Equipment, and Honeywell, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. North Carolina's concentration of advanced manufacturing plants, life sciences facilities, and large commercial real estate portfolios means demand for field service management cuts across a wide range of industrial and technology-focused companies with long-term operations in the state.
Which North Carolina cities have the most field service manager jobs?
Charlotte, Raleigh, and Burlington have the most field service manager openings in North Carolina. Charlotte leads because of its large concentration of energy, industrial automation, and commercial facilities companies, while Raleigh-Durham is driven by the Research Triangle's life sciences and technology sector, and Greensboro anchors demand through its manufacturing and logistics corridor along Interstate 85.
Are there remote field service manager jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, but they're rare. Field service management is an inherently hands-on role that typically requires site visits, technician oversight, and on-location customer engagement, so most positions are on-site or require regular regional travel. About 41% of field service manager openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those that are tend to involve administrative oversight, scheduling, or account management duties rather than active field supervision.
How can I get hired as a field service manager in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to start as a field service technician or field engineer within your target industry and work toward a team lead or supervisor role before stepping into management. Large North Carolina employers in manufacturing and building systems, including those in the Charlotte metro and the Triad region, often promote from within and value technicians who complete manufacturer-specific certifications or complete associate-level programs at North Carolina community colleges. Demonstrating customer-facing experience and coordinating small crews gives candidates without a full management background a measurable edge in local applications.
Where can I find and apply to field service manager jobs in North Carolina?
You can find and apply to field service manager jobs in North Carolina on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find the roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly through each listing.
