About Milk Street
Christopher Kimball’s Milk Street is changing how you cook by bringing bold, simple food from around the world into the home kitchen. We reach millions of home cooks through our public television and radio shows, magazine, cookbooks, cooking school, and online store. Our Insider membership gives paying members full access to our recipes, classes, and more.
The Role
The Director of Growth Marketing is accountable for one thing: driving more qualified traffic to Milk Street and turning it into new paid orders, at a cost we can sustain.
You’ll own paid search and paid social strategy, ensuring that Milk Street appears more frequently and prominently in results across all digital platforms. You'll optimize the funnel from search through content and/or landing pages, through paywall and order forms, ensuring higher conversion rates. You’ll set the targets, manage the budget, and hold the program to the numbers.
This is not a content or subscription-management role. Editorial creates the content, and a separate team manages the subscriber file and fulfillment. You’ll report to the CSO and work closely with the CEO, web, and membership teams.
In Your First Year, Success Looks Like
- 15–25% more new paid member orders than the prior year, with cost per order no more than 10% higher as spend scales
- Milk Street showing up more often and higher: 90%+ impression share on our brand search terms, and growing paid reach on Meta, YouTube, and TikTok
- Paid search traffic tripled, from under 2% of site visits today to about 5%, with cost per order tracked against paid social
- Cost per order on paid social cut 15% from the baseline you set in your first 90 days
- YouTube and TikTok launched as paid channels, with tested creative and a clear read on cost per order for each
- Visit-to-order conversion up 10–15%, measured at each step: content or landing page to paywall, paywall to order form, and order form to completed order
- At least two conversion tests a month across landing pages, paywall, and order forms, with winning changes rolled out
- Weekly reporting on spend, traffic, conversion, and cost per order by channel that leadership uses to decide where money goes
What You’ll Do
Paid search
- Own Google search campaigns: brand, non-brand, and seasonal moments.
- Optimize bids, keywords, and ad copy to grow traffic at a reasonable cost per thousand impressions, cost per click, and cost per order.
Paid social
- Run paid campaigns on Meta (Facebook and Instagram), YouTube, and TikTok to drive traffic and new orders.
- Test audiences, creative, and offers; brief the creative team on what to make and scale what works.
Funnel optimization
- Map and improve the new-customer path, from ad to landing page to order form.
- Match traffic to the right landing pages and offers, and run A/B tests to raise conversion.
- Work with our web and forms partners, who build and change the pages, on what to fix and test next.
Budget and measurement
- Manage the paid media budget and shift spend toward the channels with the best return.
- Own reporting on spend, traffic, conversion, and cost per order, and share results clearly with leadership.
What You Bring
- 7+ years in performance or growth marketing, including at least 2 years leading programs or people.
- A proven record of scaling paid search traffic at an efficient cost.
- Hands-on experience running paid social on Meta, YouTube, and TikTok.
- Experience optimizing new-customer funnels, from landing page through order form, with A/B testing.
- Experience managing a paid media budget against cost-per-order and return-on-spend targets.
- Hands-on fluency with GA4, Google Ads, and Meta Ads Manager, and the ability to pull and explain data yourself.
- Clear, concise communication with senior leadership.
Nice to Have
- Experience at a paywalled or subscription website, not only free, ad-supported content.
- Experience building co-marketing or distribution partnerships between brands.
- A background in food, cooking, or lifestyle media.
Compensation and Benefits
119,000–150,000 base salary, depending on experience

● Twelve Company Holidays
● Half-day Summer Fridays (Memorial Day - Labor Day)
● Health, Dental and Vision Plans offered

Marketing Director Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a marketing director job in Boston?
Focus your search on Boston's strongest hiring sectors: life sciences and biotech in Kendall Square and the Longwood Medical Area, financial services in Back Bay and the Financial District, and enterprise technology in the Seaport. Employers in these clusters value candidates who can bridge technical product knowledge with brand strategy. Experience with regulated industries, B2B demand generation, or healthcare marketing gives you a measurable edge in this market.
Which companies hire marketing directors in Boston?
Companies currently hiring marketing directors in Boston include Vertex Pharmaceuticals, ADP, and GBH, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Boston's employer mix skews heavily toward life sciences, professional services, and growth-stage technology firms, so expect a range from global corporations with established brand teams to well-funded startups building their marketing function from scratch.
Are there remote marketing director jobs in Boston?
Yes, though availability depends on the employer type. About 92% of marketing director openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting that strategic and digital-focused roles offer more flexibility than those tied to events, retail, or on-site teams. In Boston specifically, life sciences and technology companies tend to offer the most hybrid arrangements at the director level.
How can I get a marketing director job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving up through a senior manager or associate director role at one of Boston's many growth-stage biotech or SaaS companies, where smaller teams mean faster advancement. Boston's strong university ecosystem, including Northeastern's co-op network and HubSpot's alumni base, produces pipeline talent that local employers recognize. Building a portfolio of measurable campaign results in a specialist area like content, demand generation, or product marketing sharpens your case.
Which industries hire the most marketing directors in Boston?
Boston marketing director roles concentrate in Technology & Software and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Boston's identity as a hub for biotech research, institutional financial services, and enterprise software means these sectors consistently drive the largest share of director-level marketing demand in the city.
