Marketing Manager Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing manager in Massachusetts?
Marketing managers in Massachusetts are not required to hold a state-issued license or certification. Most roles require a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field, and several years of progressively responsible marketing experience. Many Massachusetts employers, particularly in life sciences and financial services, favor candidates with industry-specific knowledge, and professional certifications such as those from the American Marketing Association can strengthen an application.
How much do marketing managers make in Massachusetts?
Marketing managers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $212,020 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $122,350 for the lowest 10% to over $310,510 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire marketing managers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring marketing managers in Massachusetts right now include Formlabs, Bevi, and Staples, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's dense concentration of biotech firms, asset managers, insurers, and research universities means marketing manager openings appear consistently at both large corporations and mid-size growth companies.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most marketing manager jobs?
The Massachusetts cities with the most marketing manager openings are Boston, Waltham, and Burlington. Boston dominates because it is home to the headquarters or major offices of leading financial, biotech, and technology employers, while Cambridge draws heavily from its university and life sciences corridor, and smaller metros like Worcester reflect growing regional employer bases outside the core metro area.
Are there remote marketing manager jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 85% of marketing manager openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on strategy, content, and digital execution rather than on-site presence. Brand and digital marketing roles tend to be the most remote-friendly, while roles tied to events, trade shows, or retail operations are more likely to require an in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a marketing manager in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a coordinator or specialist role in a marketing department at a Massachusetts employer. Large life sciences and financial services companies, including regional asset managers and hospital systems, regularly hire marketing associates and communications coordinators as stepping stones. Building a portfolio through freelance projects, internships at Massachusetts universities or startups, and earning a certification from the American Marketing Association can help candidates move into manager-level roles faster.
Where can I find and apply to marketing manager jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to marketing manager jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find roles that match your experience and apply directly to each one.
