Insurance Sales Agent Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a insurance sales agent in Massachusetts?
To become a licensed insurance sales agent in Massachusetts, you must pass a state licensing exam administered through the Massachusetts Division of Insurance and submit a producer license application. The specific exam depends on your line of authority: Property and Casualty, Life, Accident and Health, or a combination. Most candidates complete a pre-licensing education course before sitting for the exam. A background check is required, and licenses must be renewed every two years.
Which companies hire insurance sales agents in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts insurance sales agent roles are posted by AAA Northeast, Insurify, and Amparo Insurance and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts is also home to the headquarters of Liberty Mutual and Hanover Insurance Group, making it one of the more active states for direct-carrier hiring alongside independent agency and brokerage opportunities.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most insurance sales agent jobs?
Pittsfield, Marlborough, and Springfield account for the most insurance sales agent openings in Massachusetts. Boston dominates due to its concentration of major carrier headquarters, large commercial brokerages, and a dense small-business market, while Springfield and Worcester support strong regional agency networks tied to suburban and rural personal lines business across central and western Massachusetts.
Are there remote insurance sales agent jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields because insurance sales relies heavily on relationship-building and in-person client meetings, particularly for commercial lines. About 50% of insurance sales agent openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with remote work most common in inside sales roles focused on personal lines or inbound lead conversion rather than field-based account development.
How can I get hired as a insurance sales agent in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is obtaining your Massachusetts producer license first, which signals commitment and removes a barrier for hiring managers. Large Massachusetts carriers like Liberty Mutual and Hanover Insurance Group run structured new-agent development programs that pair unlicensed or newly licensed candidates with mentors and a book of leads. Customer service representative roles at regional agencies are a common lateral move, as are financial services associate positions at banks and credit unions that offer insurance products, many of which support licensing costs for promising candidates.
Where can I find and apply to insurance sales agent jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to insurance sales agent jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current Massachusetts openings across carriers, independent agencies, and brokerages. Find roles that match your license type and experience level and apply directly to each employer through the listing.
