Insurance Sales Agent Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a insurance sales agent in Florida?
To become a licensed insurance sales agent in Florida, you must complete a state-approved pre-licensing education course, pass the relevant Florida Department of Financial Services exam, and submit a license application through MyProfile on the department's portal. The most common paths are the 2-20 General Lines Agent license for property and casualty work or the 2-15 Life and Health Agent license. A high school diploma is the minimum education requirement, though many employers prefer candidates with some college coursework in business or finance.
Which companies hire insurance sales agents in Florida?
Companies currently hiring insurance sales agents in Florida include State Farm, AmeriLife Career Agency, and Kemper, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's large senior population and significant property insurance market mean that both national carriers and Florida-based specialty carriers maintain ongoing hiring activity throughout the year.
Which Florida cities have the most insurance sales agent jobs?
Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and Boca Raton have the most insurance sales agent openings in Florida. Miami leads due to its dense commercial and personal lines market, Tampa draws significant hiring from regional carriers and independent agencies headquartered there, and Orlando's rapid population growth drives steady demand from both national chains and local agency owners expanding their books of business.
Are there remote insurance sales agent jobs in Florida?
Yes, though they're less common than in purely desk-based fields, since insurance sales often involves in-person prospecting and client meetings. About 37% of insurance sales agent openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those roles tend to focus on renewals, inbound calls, or commercial lines account management rather than field sales.
How can I get hired as a insurance sales agent in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is obtaining your Florida 2-20 or 2-15 license first, which signals commitment and removes a hiring barrier for employers. State Farm and Allstate both run agent associate and sales development programs in Florida that bring in candidates without a prior insurance background. Customer service representative roles at Florida-based agencies are a common lateral move, as is experience in retail banking or financial services, which translates well to insurance prospecting and compliance expectations.
Where can I find and apply to insurance sales agent jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to insurance sales agent jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings from carriers, independent agencies, and managing general agents active in the state. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your license type, territory preference, and experience level, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
