Business Development Leader Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development leader in Florida?
Florida does not require a state-issued license to work as a business development leader. Most Florida employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, combined with several years of progressive sales or partnership experience. Earning recognized credentials such as the Certified Business Development Professional designation or completing a Florida-based MBA program can strengthen your candidacy and is commonly seen among senior hires at Florida companies.
How much do business development leaders make in Florida?
Business development leaders in Florida earn a median of about $81,650 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $49,080 for the lowest 10% to over $140,870 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business development leaders in Florida?
Employers hiring business development leaders in Florida right now include HDR, CHA Consulting, and SAIC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's concentration of defense contractors, health systems, and technology firms means business development leaders with experience in government contracts or healthcare services are particularly in demand across the state.
Which Florida cities have the most business development leader jobs?
Tampa, Orlando, and West Palm Beach account for the most business development leader openings in Florida. Miami's role as a regional headquarters hub for multinational companies and financial services firms drives volume there, while Tampa's growing technology and defense corridors and Orlando's tourism, healthcare, and simulation industry ecosystems create steady demand in those markets.
Are there remote business development leader jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields, since business development work is fundamentally relationship-driven and often conducted through calls, video meetings, and travel rather than fixed office presence. About 67% of business development leader openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have adapted to distributed teams. Roles focused on digital partnerships, SaaS sales, or national account management tend to offer the most remote flexibility.
How can I get hired as a business development leader in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a business development representative or inside sales associate role at a mid-size or large Florida company, then moving into a leadership track as you build a portfolio of closed deals or partnerships. Florida employers in technology and healthcare, including the many firms headquartered in Tampa Bay and Miami, regularly hire candidates from adjacent roles in account management, marketing coordination, or client success into junior business development positions as a stepping stone.
Where can I find and apply to business development leader jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to business development leader jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
