- Support customers through prototype → production transitions, anticipating manufacturing risks early.
Manufacturing & DFM Expertise:
- Perform detailed DFM/DFA reviews for CNC-machined and sheet metal components.
- Evaluate part geometry, tolerances, GD&T, material selection, and finish requirements for manufacturability and cost.
- Provide cost optimization recommendations based on process selection, feature simplification, and volume scaling.
- Support quoting efforts with manufacturing-informed input on feasibility, risk, and lead time.
Assembly & System-Level Understanding/Support:
- Evaluate and guide on mechanical assemblies, including:
- Part-to-part fit, stack-ups, and tolerance interactions
- Fastener selection, joint design, and access for assembly
- Assembly sequencing and installation considerations
- Help customers identify risks related to assembly, serviceability, and field installation.
- Provide feedback that improves downstream assembly efficiency and reduces rework.
Technical Execution:
- Review and interpret engineering drawings with strong command of GD&T.
- Perform CAD work, including:
- Design updates for manufacturability
- Parametric 3D Modeling & Visualization
- Detailed Documentation & Drafting with GD&T
- Optimizing CAD — CNC to Die Cast and 3DP to IM
- Reverse engineering
- Leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude and other AI assistants) to accelerate DFM analysis, documentation, customer-facing content creation, and day-to-day engineering workflows.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Quality, and LoB teams.
Quality & Compliance Awareness:
- Apply working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100D requirements in customer discussions and internal workflows.
- Identify quality risks early and ensure proper requirements definition (“quality in, quality out”).
Desired Traits
- 6+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing roles such as CNC, Sheet Metal, or Die Casting (candidates with deeper experience are strongly encouraged to apply).
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field, or equivalent demonstrated hands-on experience.

- DFM, cost optimization, and manufacturing trade-off fluency.
- Hands-on experience in production-scale manufacturing programs.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Solid understanding of mechanical assemblies and installation considerations.
- Experience supporting customer-facing technical discussions.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100D compliance environments.

Sales Solutions Engineer Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales solutions engineer in Massachusetts?
Most sales solutions engineers in Massachusetts begin with a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or information systems, then move into a technical support, implementation, or inside sales role to build customer-facing experience. Massachusetts employers, particularly in the Route 128 technology corridor and Seaport District, commonly promote from within or hire candidates who combine a technical background with demonstrated communication skills. No state-issued license is required for this role in Massachusetts.
How much do sales solutions engineers make in Massachusetts?
Sales solutions engineers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $136,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,490 for the lowest 10% to over $177,100 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales solutions engineers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring sales solutions engineers in Massachusetts right now include Raytheon, Amazon, and MathWorks, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's dense concentration of enterprise software, cybersecurity, and life sciences technology firms means consistent openings across both large established companies and growth-stage startups headquartered in the Greater Boston area.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most sales solutions engineer jobs?
Boston, Tewksbury, and Natick have the most sales solutions engineer openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge anchor the market as home to major technology, biotech, and financial services employers, while Waltham and Burlington along the Route 128 corridor host significant concentrations of enterprise software and cybersecurity companies that rely heavily on presales and solutions engineering teams.
Are there remote sales solutions engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 71% of sales solutions engineer openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of this role involves digital product demonstrations, video-based discovery calls, and collaborative cloud-based tools. The portions of the job most commonly performed remotely include technical discovery sessions, proposal development, and proof-of-concept evaluations, while in-person presence is more typical for enterprise deal cycles and onsite client engagements.
How can I get hired as a sales solutions engineer in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a technical support, implementation specialist, or inside sales role at a Massachusetts technology company into a junior solutions engineer or associate presales position. Employers in the Greater Boston area such as those in the Seaport innovation district and along Route 128 regularly hire candidates who can demonstrate product knowledge and communication skills over direct presales experience. Earning a vendor certification in a platform like Salesforce, AWS, or HubSpot, which are well represented among Massachusetts employers, gives candidates a concrete edge when applying without a traditional presales background.
Where can I find and apply to sales solutions engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
