Sales Solutions Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales solutions engineer in Texas?
Most sales solutions engineers in Texas enter the field through a technical degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related discipline, followed by a role in technical support, software development, or systems administration that builds product depth. Texas does not require a state-issued license for this role. Employers in Austin and Dallas typically look for candidates who can bridge deep product knowledge with a consultative sales approach, often starting in associate or junior solutions engineer titles before advancing.
How much do sales solutions engineers make in Texas?
Sales solutions engineers in Texas earn a median of about $130,610 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $78,730 for the lowest 10% to over $201,850 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales solutions engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring sales solutions engineers in Texas right now include Molex, Google, and Motorola Solutions, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 technology and energy company headquarters means hiring is consistent year-round, with especially strong demand from enterprise software vendors and managed services providers with regional offices in Austin, Dallas, and Houston.
Which Texas cities have the most sales solutions engineer jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston account for the largest share of sales solutions engineer openings in Texas. Austin's dense cluster of SaaS and cloud-native companies drives much of the volume there, while Dallas's status as a regional hub for major technology vendors and financial services firms sustains strong demand, and Houston's energy and industrial sectors create consistent openings for solutions engineers focused on automation, IoT, and infrastructure platforms.
Are there remote sales solutions engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most technical roles. Sales solutions engineering is heavily demo- and call-based, which translates well to remote work for a significant share of the market. About 29% of sales solutions engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly software and cloud vendors have adopted flexible work policies. The pre-sales and discovery phases tend to be the most remote-friendly, while on-site proof-of-concept work with enterprise clients occasionally requires travel.
How can I get hired as a sales solutions engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a technical support, implementation consultant, or junior developer role at a software company that already operates in Texas. Large Austin-area SaaS employers and Dallas-based enterprise tech vendors regularly hire associate solutions engineers from their own support and services teams. Building a portfolio of product demos, earning a cloud platform certification such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate, and taking an introductory pre-sales course strengthens a first application considerably.
Where can I find and apply to sales solutions engineer jobs in Texas?
