Entry Level Mental Health Clinician Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level mental health clinician job?
Entry level mental health clinician roles typically look for a completed master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field, along with supervised practicum or internship hours. Candidates who highlight client-facing experience, familiarity with evidence-based modalities like CBT, and a willingness to pursue licensure stand out. Tailoring your application to the population a clinic serves, such as adolescents or adults with co-occurring disorders, gives you a real edge at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level mental health clinicians?
Companies hiring entry level mental health clinicians right now include Rutgers University, WakeMed, and LifeStance Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers community mental health centers, outpatient behavioral health practices, hospital systems, and nonprofit agencies that routinely bring on newly graduated clinicians working toward full licensure.
Are there remote entry level mental health clinician jobs?
Yes, though many entry level clinical roles still require in-person supervision hours for licensure purposes. About 11% of entry level mental health clinician openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting growing telehealth demand across behavioral health. Remote positions at this stage often involve individual therapy caseloads, with supervisory check-ins conducted via secure video platforms.
Are these new grad mental health clinician jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior mental health clinician roles. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of post-degree experience, counts practicum or internship hours toward requirements, or explicitly states that candidates working toward licensure are encouraged to apply. Reviewing those details in each listing helps you identify the best fit for where you are in your career.
