POSITION PURPOSE:
To provide individual, group, and family therapy to clients of diverse backgrounds who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges. This position is integral to supporting the holistic care of patients by coordinating with medical professionals, social workers, and other healthcare providers within a multidisciplinary team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to determine the mental health needs of clients and establish an appropriate treatment plan.
- Provide evidence-based individual, group, and family therapy sessions using techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, and other relevant modalities.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans for clients, ensuring goals are aligned with clinical best practices and adjusted as necessary based on progress.
- Offer crisis intervention and stabilization for clients experiencing acute psychological distress, including safety planning and risk assessments.
- Work closely with psychiatrists/APRNs, primary care providers, mental health professionals, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and ensure a holistic approach to client well-being.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries, in accordance with regulatory, billing requirements and organizational standards.
- Support clients in accessing additional resources such as but not limited to housing, employment, legal services, or financial assistance as needed for comprehensive care.
- Provide psychoeducation to clients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical standards in mental health care delivery.
- Intervenes appropriately and therapeutically in crisis situations using crisis intervention prevention techniques (i.e. MOAB).
- Maintains a professional attitude and behavior which enhances the efficacy therapeutic environment.
- Maintains good working relations among all unit personnel and other hospital employees through appropriate communication.
- Supports an environment conducive to professional practice by functioning as a role model and resource person.
SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS:
- Active licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or equivalent in the state of Illinois, required.
- Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field from an accredited institution, required.
- Certification in specific therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, EMDR) is a plus.
- A minimum, one (1) year experience and direct contact with patients and individuals with behavioral health and special needs, preferred.
- BLS Required within 30 days of hire.
- Completion of advanced MOAB training within 90 days of hire.
- Demonstrates the knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on assigned unit. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served. Able to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status to identify each patient’s needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the neonate, pediatric, adolescent and/or geriatric patient group (depending on unit).
Compensation Range
$70,000.00 - $105,000.00
