Senior Data Analyst — Power BI & Microsoft Fabric | Active Secret
Location: Remote — U.S.
Clearance: Active Secret
Why This Role
Rackner is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to help modernize enterprise analytics within a Microsoft data environment.
This is more than a dashboard-development role. You'll help shape the semantic models, KPI standards, reporting products, security controls, and reusable analytics foundations that enable leaders and operational teams to make trusted decisions.
Working across business stakeholders, data engineering, governance, and technical teams, you'll have the opportunity to influence how analytics products are designed, modernized, governed, and adopted across the organization.
If you've built strong Power BI solutions and are ready for broader ownership, this role offers the opportunity to influence the analytics architecture, standards, modernization strategy, and product portfolio behind those solutions—not just the final visualization.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design and modernization of enterprise analytics and business intelligence solutions using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric
- Shape governed semantic models, shared datasets, KPI definitions, and reusable analytical components
- Build and optimize executive, operational, and compliance reporting that supports mission and business decisions
- Modernize legacy reporting by evaluating usage, redundancy, technical debt, performance, and opportunities for consolidation
- Standardize fragmented dashboards and reports into scalable enterprise analytics products
- Develop advanced DAX measures, calculations, business logic, and Power Query transformations
- Secure analytics products through row-level and object-level access controls aligned with data-governance requirements
- Enable self-service analytics while maintaining appropriate security, governance, and data-quality controls
- Assess Power BI licensing, capacity, and deployment approaches based on organizational needs
- Translate stakeholder needs into analytical requirements, functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Partner across data engineering, governance, application, and source-system teams to move analytics products from requirements through adoption
- Solve complex semantic-modeling, reporting, performance, reconciliation, and data-quality challenges
- Influence analytics strategy, roadmap decisions, portfolio priorities, and reporting standards
- Explore forecasting, predictive analytics, and AI-assisted analytics where they provide practical value
- Support demonstrations, user acceptance testing, documentation, and adoption of analytics products
What Makes Someone Successful Here
We're most interested in candidates who can discuss specific work they personally owned, the decisions they made, and the outcomes they helped deliver. You do not need to check every box.
A strong match will bring:
- Deep hands-on capability with Microsoft Power BI
- Strong command of DAX and Power Query
- A track record building or maintaining semantic models and governed analytical datasets
- Understanding of enterprise BI architecture, KPI design, and reporting standards
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric or a comparable modern analytics platform
- Ability to modernize, consolidate, or migrate reporting environments
- Working knowledge of analytics security, governance, data quality, and access controls
- Familiarity with row-level security or similar data-access models
- Ability to translate business needs into practical, scalable analytical solutions
- Strong stakeholder skills across requirements discovery, delivery, and adoption
- Ability to troubleshoot analytical, modeling, performance, and data-quality issues
- Clear communication across technical and non-technical audiences
- Active Secret clearance
Helpful, Not Required
Additional strengths may include:
- Advanced Microsoft Fabric semantic-modeling work
- Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate
- Object-level security and enterprise Power BI governance
- Dashboard portfolio rationalization or consolidation
- Governed self-service analytics
- Power BI licensing, capacity, or deployment strategy
- Forecasting or predictive analytics
- Copilot-assisted or other AI-enabled analytics capabilities

Tips for Your Microsoft Power Platform Job Search
Show solution complexity on your resume
List the specific Power Platform components you built, not just the fact that you used them. Recruiters scan for canvas apps versus model-driven apps, custom connectors, Dataverse schema design, and governance work, so name the moving parts.
Earn the PL-900 and PL-200 certifications
Microsoft's Power Platform Fundamentals and Functional Consultant certifications appear in a large share of job postings. Holding both signals you can operate across the full platform, not just automate a single workflow, and they're fast to obtain.
Target openings by connector ecosystem fit
Filter your search by industry before applying. A healthcare employer needs SharePoint and Teams integrations. A finance team wants Dynamics 365 and Azure connectors. Matching your connector experience to the employer's tech stack sharpens your application fast.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists microsoft power platform openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a live demo for your interview
Most microsoft power platform interview panels will ask you to walk through a solution you built. Record a short screen-capture demo beforehand so you can narrate design decisions, explain why you chose Power Automate over Logic Apps, and handle follow-up questions confidently.
Negotiate using Center of Excellence scope
If a role includes governance or admin duties alongside development, the scope is closer to a platform architect than a developer. Name that in your counteroffer. Employers who need someone to build and maintain a Center of Excellence are solving a harder problem than pure app development.
Microsoft Power Platform Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most microsoft power platforms?
The companies hiring the most microsoft power platforms right now include American business solutions, Aviagen, and Infosys, with the largest share of openings in Virginia, District of Columbia, and Texas, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Demand is strongest at large enterprises and government contractors standardizing on the Microsoft 365 stack.
How many microsoft power platform jobs are remote?
About 78% of microsoft power platform openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the cloud-native nature of the platform. Power Automate and Power BI roles tend to be the most remote-friendly, while Power Apps positions tied to Dynamics 365 implementations more often require occasional on-site collaboration.
How do you become a microsoft power platform?
Start by completing Microsoft Learn's free Power Platform learning paths, which cover Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse. Build two or three portfolio projects that solve real workflow problems, then earn the PL-900 certification to validate foundational knowledge. Progress to the PL-200 Functional Consultant or PL-400 Developer certification based on whether your target roles lean toward configuration or pro-code development.
Can you get a microsoft power platform job with little experience?
Yes, entry-level roles exist, particularly on internal IT teams and consulting firms that need associates to build low-code automations and simple canvas apps. The fastest path in is earning the PL-900 certification, building a small portfolio of documented solutions on GitHub or a personal site, and targeting companies already invested in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem where Power Platform adoption is still expanding.
What does the microsoft power platform interview process look like?
Most processes include a recruiter screen, a technical assessment where you build or extend a Power Apps or Power Automate solution under time constraints, and a panel interview with business analysts or IT architects. Expect questions on Dataverse table design, environment governance, connector licensing tiers, and how you'd handle a solution that outgrows low-code constraints and needs Azure Functions or custom APIs instead.
Where can I find and apply to microsoft power platform jobs?
You can find and apply to microsoft power platform jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to each one that fits.
