Neuropsychologist Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a neuropsychologist in Florida?
To practice as a neuropsychologist in Florida, you must hold an active license issued by the Florida Board of Psychology, which requires a doctoral degree in psychology from an APA-accredited program, a supervised internship, and passing the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology. Most positions also expect a completed postdoctoral fellowship focused on neuropsychology. Florida does not issue a separate neuropsychology specialty license, so board certification through the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology, while not mandated, significantly strengthens competitiveness.
Which companies hire neuropsychologists in Florida?
Employers hiring neuropsychologists in Florida right now include Brooks Rehabilitation, Moffitt Cancer Center, and Johns Hopkins Health System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's mix of large academic medical centers, VA facilities, and private rehabilitation networks means openings appear across both urban hospital systems and specialty outpatient clinics throughout the state.
Which Florida cities have the most neuropsychologist jobs?
The cities with the most neuropsychologist openings in Florida are Tampa, Miami, and Jacksonville. Miami and Tampa concentrate the most volume because of their large academic medical centers, VA hospitals, and rehabilitation systems, while Orlando's growth as a regional healthcare hub has drawn expanding neuropsychology programs tied to institutions like AdventHealth and Orlando Health.
Are there remote neuropsychologist jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're limited. Neuropsychology is heavily assessment-based and typically requires in-person testing, so fully remote roles are uncommon compared to other psychology specialties. About 0% of neuropsychologist openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting a small but real share. The parts of the role most likely to be conducted remotely are teleneuropsychology consultations, report writing, and feedback sessions rather than the testing itself.
How can I get hired as a neuropsychologist in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a postdoctoral fellowship at a Florida training site, since most employers treat the fellowship as the bridge between graduation and independent practice. Large Florida systems such as the University of Florida Health, Jackson Health System, and the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa run postdoctoral training programs that accept candidates straight from internship. Candidates can also pursue associate or staff psychologist roles in rehabilitation or TBI units, which often allow supervised neuropsychology work while completing hours toward full licensure. Having Florida Board of Psychology licensure eligibility confirmed before applying removes a common hiring barrier.
Where can I find and apply to neuropsychologist jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to neuropsychologist jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings updated in real time. Search the listings to find roles that match your specialty, experience level, and preferred location, then apply directly to the positions that fit.
