Occupational Therapist Jobs in Austin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a occupational therapist job in Austin?
Austin's strongest hiring comes from its hospital systems, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, pediatric specialty practices, and the growing number of senior living communities expanding across the metro. Candidates who focus on pediatrics, hand therapy, or neurorehabilitation tend to stand out in this market. Targeting employers in the medical district and the Round Rock and Cedar Park suburbs, where population growth has driven clinic expansion, gives you the most realistic path to an offer.
Which companies hire occupational therapists in Austin?
Employers hiring occupational therapists in Austin right now include St. David's HealthCare, Angels of Care Pediatric Home Health, and MGA Homecare, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Austin's hiring mix tends to lean toward hospital-affiliated outpatient programs, specialty pediatric clinics, and therapy staffing agencies that place OTs across the broader metro.
Are there remote occupational therapist jobs in Austin?
Yes, though they are limited given that occupational therapy is primarily a hands-on, in-person discipline. About 18% of occupational therapist openings tied to Austin are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and the roles most likely to offer remote flexibility are telehealth-based positions focused on home program consultation, documentation, or care coordination rather than direct clinical treatment.
How can I get a occupational therapist job in Austin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Austin is through fieldwork rotations or Level II placements at one of the city's hospital systems or large outpatient groups, which frequently convert strong students into new graduate hires. SNFs and school-based therapy programs in Austin ISD and surrounding districts like Round Rock ISD also hire new graduates consistently. Candidates who complete their hours locally and establish relationships with site supervisors before graduation have a clear advantage over applicants coming in from out of state.
Which industries hire the most occupational therapists in Austin?
Most occupational therapist openings in Austin sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Government & Public Sector, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Austin's rapid population growth, combined with its expanding senior care infrastructure and strong pediatric health sector, keeps demand across those industries consistently above the national average.
