Occupational Therapist Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a occupational therapist job in Houston?
Focus your search on the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, where hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and outpatient clinics cluster densely. Houston's aging population and large pediatric population drive consistent demand in home health agencies, school districts, and skilled nursing facilities across neighborhoods like Bellaire, Katy, and Sugar Land. Candidates with hand therapy, pediatric, or neurorehabilitation experience stand out in this market.
Which companies hire occupational therapists in Houston?
Employers hiring occupational therapists in Houston right now include Memorial Hermann Health System, Aveanna Healthcare, and Lifepoint Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Houston's hiring landscape includes large academic medical systems, freestanding rehabilitation hospitals, and independently owned outpatient clinics concentrated around the Texas Medical Center and suburban growth corridors.
Are there remote occupational therapist jobs in Houston?
Yes, though remote work is limited for occupational therapists since most roles require direct patient contact. About 0% of occupational therapist openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, covering roles such as telehealth OT consultations and utilization review positions with Houston-based insurers and managed care organizations.
How can I get a occupational therapist job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through Level II fieldwork placements at Texas Medical Center affiliates, which frequently convert to full-time hires. Houston school districts and early intervention programs regularly bring on new graduates for pediatric caseloads, and large home health agencies across Harris County hire entry-level OTs willing to travel between patients. A Houston-based clinical internship and state licensure in hand before you finish your degree gives you a clear edge.
