Oncology Specialist Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a oncology specialist in Florida?
The path depends on your clinical discipline, but most oncology specialists in Florida hold a relevant professional license issued or recognized by the Florida Department of Health, such as an RN, advanced practice registered nurse, or physician license, depending on the role. You then complete advanced training or certification in oncology through an accredited program. Many Florida employers also require or strongly prefer a recognized oncology certification from a body such as the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation.
How much do oncology specialists make in Florida?
Oncology specialists in Florida earn a median of about $99,260 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $78,260 for the lowest 10% to over $141,460 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire oncology specialists in Florida?
Employers hiring oncology specialists in Florida right now include Moffitt Cancer Center, AdventHealth Tampa, and Memorial Healthcare System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's large integrated health systems and dedicated cancer centers drive consistent demand across the state, particularly in major metro areas.
Which Florida cities have the most oncology specialist jobs?
Tampa, Miami, and Daytona Beach have the most oncology specialist openings in Florida. Miami and Tampa generate the highest volume thanks to large academic medical centers and dedicated cancer institutions like Moffitt Cancer Center, while Orlando's rapid population growth has expanded its hospital networks and outpatient oncology infrastructure, pulling strong demand into that market as well.
Are there remote oncology specialist jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're rare. Oncology specialist work is largely hands-on and patient-facing, which limits remote options significantly. About 50% of oncology specialist openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to concentrate in care coordination, oncology case management, and utilization review rather than direct clinical care.
How can I get hired as a oncology specialist in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to new-graduate or oncology residency programs at large Florida health systems such as Moffitt Cancer Center, AdventHealth, or HCA Florida, which run structured oncology orientation tracks designed for candidates without specialty experience. Lateral moves from med-surg, critical care, or infusion nursing roles are common stepping stones. Completing your Florida Department of Health license and pursuing the Oncology Certified Nurse credential as early as eligibility allows gives candidates a measurable edge in a competitive applicant pool.
Where can I find and apply to oncology specialist jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to oncology specialist jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings across health systems, cancer centers, and outpatient clinics. Find roles that fit your experience and specialty area and apply directly.
