Operations Intern Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a operations intern in Kansas?
Becoming an operations intern in Kansas typically starts with enrollment in a business administration, supply chain management, industrial engineering, or operations-focused degree program at a Kansas university such as Kansas State University, the University of Kansas, or Wichita State University. Most positions require active student status. No state-issued license is required for this role, but completing coursework in Lean operations, project management, or data analysis gives candidates a measurable edge with Kansas employers.
Which companies hire operations interns in Kansas?
Companies currently hiring operations interns in Kansas include Garmin, Sporting Kaw Valley, and Foot Locker, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Kansas's concentration of aerospace manufacturing, agricultural processing, and energy utilities means operations intern demand is especially strong among large industrial and infrastructure employers headquartered or operating in the state.
Which Kansas cities have the most operations intern jobs?
The cities with the most operations intern openings in Kansas are Wichita, Olathe, and Salina. Wichita drives the largest share of postings through its aerospace manufacturing and distribution base, Kansas City draws heavily from its logistics corridor and corporate service centers, and Topeka's state government agencies and regional utilities add a steady stream of operational support roles.
Are there remote operations intern jobs in Kansas?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based fields, since many operations intern roles involve on-site observation of physical workflows, facility tours, and direct collaboration with plant or distribution center teams. About 50% of operations intern openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with those opportunities concentrated in data analysis, reporting, and business process improvement functions that do not require hands-on facility access.
How can I get hired as a operations intern in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured intern programs at large Kansas employers while still enrolled in school. Cargill's Wichita facilities, Spirit AeroSystems, and Evergy each run rotational or project-based intern programs designed for students without prior work experience. Completing a relevant capstone project, a supply chain simulation course, or a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification gives applicants a concrete credential to reference. Lateral entry from part-time warehouse associate, logistics coordinator assistant, or administrative roles within the same company is another common route into a formal operations intern title.
Where can I find and apply to operations intern jobs in Kansas?
