Operations Manager Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a operations manager job in San Diego?
Focus on San Diego's strongest hiring sectors: defense and government contracting in Kearny Mesa, biotech and life sciences in Torrey Pines and Sorrento Valley, logistics along the port corridor, and hospitality downtown. Employers here value candidates who can manage cross-functional teams in regulated or high-throughput environments. A background in supply chain, quality systems, or facility operations gives you a clear edge in this market.
Which companies hire operations managers in San Diego?
San Diego operations manager roles are posted by Northrop Grumman, Ulta, and Concentra and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The hiring mix reflects San Diego's economy, with defense primes, biotech manufacturers, healthcare systems, and regional logistics companies all posting regularly.
Are there remote operations manager jobs in San Diego?
Yes, though with limits: operations manager roles tied to physical facilities, production lines, or on-site teams are rarely fully remote. About 40% of operations manager openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, skewing toward companies in SaaS, consulting, or back-office functions. Process improvement, vendor management, and reporting work is where remote arrangements show up most in San Diego.
How can I get a operations manager job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is moving into operations from a coordinator or team lead role within the same employer, particularly at the port-area logistics firms, hotel groups, or defense subcontractors that promote from within. Roles like operations coordinator, shift supervisor, or project coordinator at mid-size San Diego companies are the practical stepping stones, and local employers in biotech and healthcare regularly hire people who combine hands-on process knowledge with strong organizational skills.
