INTRODUCTION
This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminium manufacturing solutions.
LOCATION: Wichita, KS (On-site)
Responsibilities:
As the operation process expert, this role provides guidance to the build plan including methods and techniques, sequence of steps, tool plans, layouts, etc.
- Responsible for keeping up with industry best practices and implementing them within operations.
- Develop labor hour estimates as well as tooling and build concepts for new bid proposals.
- Provides expertise in production engineering disciplines.
- Applies principles and practices typically associated with quality engineering, industrial engineering, and manufacturing engineering functions and coordinates with other support disciplines or core functions as required. Teams to coordinate with include: Engineering, management, lean, tooling and operations.
- Develops quality and cost-effective methods, standards, and systems for production by applying production engineering principles.
- Leads and participates in long-range technical research on proposed projects.
- Provides guidance to less experienced manufacturing support staff.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- 3+ years of related experience in manufacturing, continuous improvement, and/or manufacturing support.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Trade School Certificate, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree.
- Strong MS Office Suite skills (specifically Excel and PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-based environment.
- Self-motivated; taking ownership of projects and issues, including follow through to closure.
- Familiar with RCCA.
- Project Management experience.
- Understanding of fabrication and/or assembly build processes and sequencing.
- Experience in Continuous Improvement and Manufacturing Support.
- Familiarity with drilling and fastening parts.
- Experience with SAP and/or MES.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
- Active listener and willing to learn.
- High level of understanding in manufacturing of Sheet Metal assembly.

SUMMARY PAY RANGE - Associate (Level 2): $59,450 - $91,150
