Operations Support Specialist Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a operations support specialist in California?
Most operations support specialist roles in California require at minimum an associate degree, though a bachelor's in business administration, operations management, or a related field is increasingly preferred by larger employers. California does not issue a state license specifically for this role, but candidates who complete coursework through California community colleges or CSU programs and build experience in coordination, logistics, or administrative support are well positioned. Certifications like Lean Six Sigma Green Belt strengthen a candidacy considerably.
Which companies hire operations support specialists in California?
Employers hiring operations support specialists in California right now include DSI, Rivian, and Fenwick & West, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of defense contractors, large healthcare systems, and enterprise technology firms makes it one of the more consistent states for ongoing operations support hiring year-round.
Which California cities have the most operations support specialist jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego have the most operations support specialist openings in California. Los Angeles anchors the list through its dense mix of healthcare networks, logistics hubs, and entertainment and media operations, while San Jose and the broader Bay Area draw demand from enterprise technology and professional services firms, and San Diego's defense and biotech sectors generate steady openings as well.
Are there remote operations support specialist jobs in California?
Yes, and they're more common than in many operations roles. About 15% of operations support specialist openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves system management, reporting, and cross-team coordination rather than physical tasks. The most remote-friendly sub-functions tend to be data management, scheduling support, and vendor communication.
How can I get hired as a operations support specialist in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an administrative coordinator or operations assistant role at a mid-size California employer, where on-the-job exposure to ERP systems and workflow processes builds a foundation quickly. Large California healthcare systems like Dignity Health and Kaiser Permanente run structured associate operations programs that welcome candidates without direct experience. Lateral moves from customer service, logistics coordination, or executive assistant roles are also common entry points, and completing a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt credential signals operational aptitude to California hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to operations support specialist jobs in California?
You can find and apply to operations support specialist jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
