Role Description

Drop Mobility is looking for a hands-on, highly adaptable Operations Support Specialist to support the performance of our bikeshare and micromobility systems across North America.

This is a field-based, travel-intensive role designed to provide operational support wherever it is needed most. The Operations Support Specialist will travel between Drop markets to help troubleshoot operational challenges, improve fleet condition, support launches and expansions, and provide additional capacity to local teams. Working closely with Regional Operations Managers and local operating teams, this person will help ensure our systems are safe, reliable, well maintained, and operating to Drop’s standards.

The role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on problem solving, is mechanically inclined, comfortable working independently, and excited by a job where the location and priorities can change from week to week.

Regular overnight and extended travel throughout the United States and Canada is a core requirement of the position.

Key ResponsibilitiesMarket Operations Support

• Travel to Drop Mobility markets across the United States and Canada based on operational priorities.
• Provide additional hands-on support to markets experiencing maintenance backlogs, staffing constraints, fleet challenges, or other operational needs.
• Work alongside local teams to identify operational problems and implement practical improvements.
• Support fleet deployment, rebalancing, retrieval, staging, and other field activities when required.
• Assist markets in preparing for peak seasons, major events, system expansions, and periods of increased ridership.

Fleet Maintenance and Technical Support

• Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair bicycles, e-bikes, scooters, docks, batteries, charging equipment, and related system infrastructure.
• Perform preventative maintenance and fleet-quality inspections.
• Support battery replacement, charging, testing, and battery-health initiatives.
• Identify recurring equipment failures or maintenance patterns and communicate findings to Operations and Product/Engineering teams.
• Ensure repairs and maintenance activities are completed safely and documented accurately.
• Help ensure local operations are being performed consistently with Drop’s safety, maintenance, and service standards.

Launches and Special Projects

• Provide on-the-ground support for new bikeshare and micromobility system launches.
• Assist with vehicle assembly, equipment preparation, deployment, station installation, testing, and launch-day operations.
• Support fleet expansions, equipment upgrades, seasonal transitions, and other company-wide operational projects.
• Help troubleshoot issues during the early stages of a new program and ensure a smooth transition into ongoing local operations.

Field Assessment and Reporting

• Assess fleet condition, maintenance operations, equipment, facilities, and overall market readiness during field visits.
• Document completed work, outstanding issues, and recommended next steps.
• Provide concise post-visit updates to Regional Operations Managers and other relevant team members.
• Escalate significant safety, equipment, or operational concerns promptly.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and asset records using Drop’s operational systems.

Partner and Community Support

• Represent Drop professionally while working in our partner communities.
• Interact with municipal, university, property, and community partners when required during field work, launches, or events.
• Support demonstrations, community events, and other local activations when operational assistance is needed.
• Maintain a professional and solutions-oriented approach when working with partners and members of the public.

What You BringRequired

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience in field operations, fleet maintenance, bicycle mechanics, field service, transportation, logistics, or a related hands-on environment.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements. (MVR required)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and confidence diagnosing and solving equipment problems.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions in the field.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States and Canada.
• Comfortable with frequent air travel, long-distance driving, rental vehicles, and extended stays away from home.
• Ability to safely lift, move, and handle bicycles, batteries, tools, and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.

Preferred

• Experience maintaining bicycles, e-bikes, scooters, or other light electric vehicles.
• Previous experience in bikeshare, micromobility, transit, fleet operations, or shared transportation.
• Experience troubleshooting basic electrical systems.
• Familiarity with lithium-ion batteries, charging infrastructure, or battery-management procedures.
• Experience training, coaching, or mentoring field staff.
• Familiarity with fleet-management, asset-management, or mobile work-order software.

Work Environment & Travel

This is a high-travel, field-based position, not a traditional work-from-home remote role.

Travel requirements will vary based on business needs and may include frequent overnight trips and extended assignments throughout the United States and Canada. The role involves regular air travel, driving, warehouse and workshop environments, and outdoor field work.

Schedules may occasionally include early mornings, evenings, or weekends to support system launches, major events, seasonal transitions, or urgent operational needs.

Candidates should be comfortable with a highly mobile work environment and a schedule that can change as operational priorities evolve.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
